American Airlines is expanding its Miami International Airport network to 100 destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, adding new nonstop flights to Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Cap-Haitien, Haiti. The milestone strengthens Miami’s role as a major international gateway and gives leisure travelers, families and business passengers more direct access to destinations across the Americas.
The carrier will launch daily Miami–Maracaibo service on July 14, 2026, followed by daily Miami–Cap-Haitien flights on November 1, 2026. American said the two additions will become its 99th and 100th destinations in the region. The expansion arrives during the airline’s centennial year and reinforces its position as the U.S. carrier with the most flights and destinations serving Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.
Haiti Returns to American Airlines’ Miami Network
The planned return of flights to Cap-Haitien will reconnect northern Haiti with American’s Miami hub. American will operate the route daily with Boeing 737 aircraft offering premium cabin options and free high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T.
The airline said Haiti is the largest Caribbean market by demand that is currently unserved by a U.S. carrier. The new service is expected to support travelers visiting friends and relatives, business passengers and communities seeking more convenient access between South Florida and Haiti.
South Florida is home to the largest Haitian-American population in the United States. The Miami connection will also create one-stop travel options for passengers originating in cities such as New York and Orlando. For travelers, the route could reduce the complexity of reaching northern Haiti while supporting stronger personal and commercial links.
The Haiti launch is especially significant because aviation operations in the country remain sensitive to security conditions. U.S. aviation authorities continue to maintain restrictions affecting certain flights in Haitian territory and airspace. Travelers should monitor airline updates closely before departure.
Maracaibo Gains Its Only Nonstop US Link
American will also begin daily flights from Miami to Maracaibo, creating the only nonstop service between the United States and the Venezuelan city. The route will use Embraer 175 aircraft with a premium cabin and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi sponsored by AT&T.
The new Maracaibo flight will complement American’s twice-daily Miami–Caracas service. Together, the routes widen travel options for passengers visiting Venezuela for family, commerce and leisure. They also position Miami as a practical connecting point for travelers from other parts of the United States.
“American connects the U.S. with Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America better than any other airline,” Chief Commercial Officer Nat Pieper said.
Winter Schedule Adds More Leisure Travel Options
American’s winter network across Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America will be nearly 50% larger than that of its nearest U.S. competitor. The carrier said travelers will gain access to destinations not served by other U.S. airlines, including Anguilla, Bimini, Ocho Rios, South Caicos and Montevideo.
The airline is also increasing winter frequencies on established leisure routes. Plans include two daily flights to Rio de Janeiro, up to eight daily flights to San Juan, up to four daily flights to St. Thomas and up to six daily flights to Tortola. Miami–Antigua service will increase to two daily flights from October 5.
Seasonal capacity will also rise for the peak holiday and winter travel period. American plans three daily Miami–Exuma flights and two daily Miami–St. Kitts flights from December 17, 2026, through April 5, 2027.
These additions could benefit hotels, resorts, attractions, restaurants and ground-transport providers across island and coastal destinations. More flight choices may also help travelers build flexible itineraries for beach holidays, family visits and cruise connections.
Miami Hub Investment Supports Premium Travel
American operates more than 410 peak daily departures from Miami. The airline is also investing in the passenger experience through plans for a new Flagship lounge and a reimagined Concourse D.
The Miami improvements are designed to support smoother connections and more comfortable journeys as the network grows. For travelers moving between the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, the combination of new routes, additional frequencies and premium services strengthens Miami’s position as a central aviation hub.
With Haiti and Maracaibo joining the map, American’s 100-destination regional network adds new opportunities for tourism, family travel and economic connectivity across the Americas.
