Muskoka has become Nocturne Luxury Villas’ first Canadian destination following the acquisition of Jayne’s Luxury Rentals, adding more than 300 premium cottages, lakefront estates and private residences to the company’s growing hospitality collection.
Announced in July 2026, the transaction expands Nocturne’s portfolio to nearly 1,400 villas and luxury residences across North America and the Caribbean. Muskoka also becomes the company’s seventh destination, strengthening its presence in established leisure markets known for privacy, nature and high-end accommodation.
Jayne’s Luxury Rentals will continue operating with its existing local identity, destination knowledge and homeowner relationships. At the same time, the business will gain access to Nocturne’s broader technology, marketing, operational and distribution resources.
The approach reflects Nocturne’s strategy of acquiring respected regional hospitality businesses without removing the local character that made them successful.
Muskoka Strengthens Its Position in Luxury Tourism
Located roughly two hours north of Toronto, Muskoka is widely recognised as Ontario’s signature cottage country destination.
The region includes celebrated communities and lake districts such as Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Port Carling, Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph. Its combination of forest landscapes, waterfront properties and outdoor recreation has made it a popular retreat for affluent domestic travellers and international visitors.
Summer remains a major tourism season, with boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, hiking, cycling and golf attracting visitors to the region’s lakes and communities.
However, Muskoka also supports year-round travel. Autumn brings demand for fall-colour journeys, while winter offers skating, snowmobiling, wellness retreats and quiet countryside escapes.
The addition of Jayne’s to the Nocturne Collection could increase Muskoka’s visibility among international luxury travellers seeking private accommodation rather than traditional resort stays.
More Than 300 Properties Join the Collection
Jayne’s Luxury Rentals manages more than 300 properties across Muskoka and surrounding Ontario destinations.
The portfolio includes large lakefront estates, contemporary cottages, traditional family retreats, chalets and private residences designed for different group sizes and travel occasions.
Many properties appeal to families, groups of friends and multigenerational travellers seeking extensive living space, private waterfront access and greater flexibility than conventional hotel accommodation can provide.
Guests can also arrange personalised services such as private chefs, boat charters, wellness programmes, yoga sessions, fishing excursions, family activities and tailored sightseeing itineraries.
These services allow visitors to create highly individual stays while maintaining the privacy of a residential setting.
Nocturne’s wider operational platform may help Jayne’s reach new customers through enhanced marketing and travel-advisor relationships while preserving its specialised knowledge of Muskoka’s lakes, roads, marinas and seasonal conditions.
Local Identity Remains Central to Expansion
Rather than consolidating every acquisition under a single consumer-facing brand, Nocturne has developed a collection of established destination specialists.
Its portfolio includes Exceptional Stays in Telluride, Cabo Villas in Mexico, Paradise Retreats in Santa Barbara, Exclusive 30A on Florida’s Emerald Coast, Grand Cayman Villas and Condos, and WIMCO St. Barth Properties across selected Caribbean markets.
Each company contributes local expertise, property knowledge and guest relationships while benefiting from the scale of the larger organisation.
The acquisition of Jayne’s follows this model by combining regional credibility with the capabilities of an expanding luxury hospitality group.
For homeowners, the partnership could provide access to wider distribution, technology and revenue-management resources. For guests, it may deliver more consistent service standards, destination support and itinerary planning across the Nocturne Collection.
Nature and Privacy Shape the Muskoka Experience
Muskoka’s appeal is closely connected to its lakes, forests and low-density landscapes.
Visitors can explore Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph or travel towards Georgian Bay and Algonquin Provincial Park for hiking, canoeing, wildlife viewing and photography.
Local attractions include Bracebridge Falls, Muskoka Wharf, Hardy Lake Provincial Park and family-focused experiences around Gravenhurst and Bracebridge.
The destination also combines wilderness access with practical visitor services. Communities such as Huntsville, Bracebridge and Port Carling offer restaurants, artisan shops, markets, marinas and grocery stores.
Most visitors travel by private car, chauffeur service or rental vehicle because public transportation across the region remains limited. Muskoka Airport near Gravenhurst also supports private aviation and selected seasonal operations.
Acquisition Could Elevate Canadian Cottage Travel
The deal arrives as travellers increasingly seek private villas, personalised service and accommodation that enables longer, experience-led stays.
Luxury cottages are well positioned to benefit from this shift because they combine space and seclusion with access to outdoor activities and local communities.
By entering Canada through Muskoka, Nocturne has selected a destination with strong brand recognition and a long-established premium travel market.
The acquisition gives Jayne’s greater international reach while providing Nocturne with a respected Canadian operator and an extensive collection of lakefront homes.
Together, the businesses could take luxury cottage travel to a new level by pairing Muskoka’s natural setting with wider hospitality resources, personalised experiences and global market access.
