Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh Appoints Ajit Singh Gandhi as General Manager to Drive Lifestyle Hospitality Growth

Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh has appointed Ajit Singh Gandhi as General Manager, effective July 1, 2026, beginning a new phase focused on operational excellence, lifestyle hospitality innovation and strategic business growth.

Gandhi will oversee the hotel’s overall operations while strengthening guest satisfaction, colleague engagement, commercial performance and connections with Chandigarh’s local cultural and social landscape. His appointment is expected to support the property’s ambition to remain a preferred destination for leisure travellers, corporate guests, event delegates and local patrons.

Located in Chandigarh’s central commercial and shopping district, the 144-room hotel combines contemporary accommodation with design elements inspired by the city’s architecture and vibrant culture. Hyatt officially opened the property in September 2022 as the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Chandigarh and the brand’s fourth location in India.

Ajit Singh Gandhi Brings Two Decades of Experience

Gandhi brings more than 20 years of hospitality experience spanning hotel operations, commercial strategy, team development and guest experience management.

His career includes assignments with The Oberoi Group, Taj Hotels, Marriott and The Lalit, giving him exposure to luxury properties, leisure destinations, corporate accommodation and the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions market.

This varied background is expected to help him address the needs of Chandigarh’s diverse hotel market. The city attracts government and corporate travellers while also serving visitors exploring Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the wider northern Indian region.

Before moving to Chandigarh, Gandhi served as General Manager of Hyatt Centric Dehradun. During his tenure, he focused on operational processes, service delivery, employee engagement and the creation of memorable guest experiences.

His leadership has also received industry recognition, including the Iconic General Manager of the Year 2025 honour and inclusion among the Top 20 General Managers in the People’s Choice Awards in 2024 and 2025.

Guest-Centric Strategy Targets Modern Travellers

At Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh, Gandhi will focus on balancing operational efficiency with personalised hospitality.

Modern travellers increasingly expect hotels to function as gateways to their destinations rather than simply places to sleep. The Hyatt Centric brand responds to this demand by positioning its properties near local attractions, dining areas, entertainment and cultural experiences.

The Chandigarh hotel places visitors close to Sector 17 Plaza, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden and other major city attractions. Its design reflects the architectural identity associated with Le Corbusier while incorporating colourful, contemporary elements.

Under Gandhi’s leadership, the hotel is expected to develop stronger destination-led experiences and guest engagement initiatives. These efforts could appeal to visitors seeking local discoveries, weekend breaks and premium urban stays in the City Beautiful.

The strategy will also involve strengthening colleague development and workplace culture. Engaged hotel teams can play a central role in delivering consistent service, responding to individual preferences and building long-term relationships with returning guests.

Dining and Entertainment Remain Key Priorities

Food, beverages and social experiences will form an important part of the hotel’s next growth phase.

Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh operates several dining and drinking venues designed for hotel residents and Chandigarh’s local community. The property describes its food and beverage portfolio as a collection of spaces offering international and regional flavours, engaging conversations and experience-led dining.

Gandhi is expected to continue developing KOYO KOYO, the hotel’s contemporary Asian restaurant. The venue combines modern Asian cuisine with an energetic dining environment, supporting Chandigarh’s growing demand for distinctive culinary experiences.

Another focus will be PVT LTD, an intimate speakeasy concept offering cocktails and a nightlife-focused atmosphere. Strengthening such venues can help the hotel attract local diners and social guests while expanding revenue beyond accommodation.

The hotel also provides event and meeting facilities for corporate gatherings, weddings and social occasions. Hyatt highlights locally inspired activities, food experiences and personalised service as central elements of its meetings and celebrations offering.

Leadership Change Supports Chandigarh Tourism Growth

Chandigarh occupies an important position within northern India’s tourism and business landscape. Its planned architecture, gardens, cultural attractions and access to neighbouring destinations create demand from domestic and international visitors.

Premium hotels contribute to this visitor economy by supporting accommodation, dining, conferences, weddings and local employment. Properties offering lifestyle experiences can also encourage travellers to spend more time exploring the city rather than treating it only as a transit point.

“I am delighted to join Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh, a hotel that reflects the energy, creativity and character of the city itself,” Gandhi said.

He added that he looked forward to working with the hotel team to build on the property’s foundation, create memorable guest experiences and reinforce its position among travellers and local patrons.

With Gandhi taking charge, Hyatt Centric Sector 17 Chandigarh enters its next chapter with a focus on people, innovation and destination-connected hospitality. His operational expertise and leadership experience are expected to guide the hotel as it strengthens its accommodation, culinary, entertainment and event offerings in one of northern India’s most distinctive cities.
