Rail passengers travelling through Pune on Sunday, August 2, 2026, face significant disruption as Central Railway carries out a nine-hour traffic and power block at Pune Railway Station.
The maintenance window will remain in force from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. It will restrict train movements across important station tracks, platforms and yard lines while engineering teams complete infrastructure upgrades.
Seven passenger services will be cancelled during the block. Other suburban and long-distance trains passing through Pune may face delays, revised timings or operational changes.
Passengers heading towards Mumbai, Lonavala, Talegaon and Daund should confirm their train status before leaving home. Those using Pune as an interchange should also allow additional time and prepare alternative travel arrangements.
The temporary disruption comes during an important maintenance programme intended to strengthen track infrastructure and improve the long-term reliability of railway operations.
Seven trains cancelled during maintenance
The block will affect several popular local and intercity services used by daily commuters, leisure travellers and passengers connecting with longer journeys.
The cancelled trains include the Pune–Talegaon local and the corresponding Talegaon–Pune local service.
The Pune–Lonavala local and Lonavala–Shivajinagar local will also remain cancelled during the maintenance period.
Two important intercity trains linking Pune with Mumbai will not operate. These are Train 11007, the CSMT Mumbai–Pune Express, and Train 11008, the Pune–CSMT Mumbai Express.
The Pune–Daund DEMU service is also included in the cancellation plan.

The heavier components are intended to provide greater strength and support regular train movements across the section.
Engineering, signalling, telecommunications and overhead electrical teams will work together during the scheduled shutdown.
Completing several activities within one coordinated block can reduce the need for repeated service interruptions on different days. However, it requires extensive restrictions while employees and machinery operate safely across the affected lines.
The block includes a power shutdown because overhead electrical equipment must be isolated during parts of the work.

Passengers may consider intercity buses or other authorised public transport where practical. However, road services may experience heavier demand because of the train cancellations.
