JetBlue is preparing to launch BlueFirst™, a new domestic first-class experience combining spacious seating, personalised technology, premium dining and priority airport services.
Available to book during the autumn, BlueFirst will operate on routes where JetBlue’s Mint product is unavailable. The first aircraft featuring the redesigned cabin is expected to enter service later in 2026.
The launch forms part of JetBlue’s JetForward strategy and will expand the airline’s premium offering across the United States. It also addresses growing passenger demand for greater comfort on domestic journeys without requiring an international-style business-class product.
BlueFirst has been developed as an end-to-end experience. It will provide benefits from airport check-in and security through boarding, inflight service and baggage collection.
Custom seating increases personal comfort
The centrepiece of the BlueFirst cabin will be a customised seat developed exclusively for JetBlue with Tuft & Needle®. The design will incorporate T&N Flex™ foam technology intended to improve support and relieve pressure during the flight.
BlueFirst will use a two-by-two layout, giving passengers additional personal space compared with the airline’s Main cabin. Each premium seat will provide up to seven extra inches of legroom and five inches of recline.
The design reflects JetBlue’s position that premium service should offer more than a wider seat. Ergonomics, technology and personalised amenities will work together to create a more relaxing journey.
Greater seat comfort could prove particularly valuable on longer domestic services and routes operated at night. Passengers increasingly consider space, rest and connectivity when deciding whether to purchase a premium cabin.
Overnight travellers will also receive a dedicated blanket and snooze kit. These amenities will bring elements commonly associated with long-haul premium cabins to domestic flights.
Smart technology personalises entertainment
Every BlueFirst seat will feature a 13.3-inch seatback entertainment screen. Bluetooth connectivity will allow passengers to connect compatible wireless headphones directly to the system.
The cabin will introduce the latest version of Blueprint by JetBlue™, the airline’s personalised inflight entertainment platform. The upgraded system is intended to make content and onboard services easier to access.
Travellers will also receive USB-A, USB-C and 110VAC power connections at their seats. These options will help passengers keep laptops, smartphones and other devices charged throughout the journey.
Complimentary Fly-Fi® high-speed internet will remain available from gate to gate. Customers can use the service to work, stream content or communicate while travelling.
BlueFirst will further expand digital convenience through seatback ordering. Passengers can browse available food, beverages and onboard products on their entertainment screens before sending selections to the cabin crew.
An interactive Mixologist Mode will allow travellers to personalise beverages by choosing a spirit, mixer and preferred flavours. The digital order will then be prepared by a crew member.
FirstFare transforms domestic dining
JetBlue will introduce FirstFare as the dedicated BlueFirst meal concept. Customers travelling at least 899 miles will receive a bento-style box containing an entrée, side dish and dessert.
Planned menu selections include sweet or savoury crepes and sesame noodles served with beef or tofu. Choices will rotate, providing variety while maintaining an approachable premium dining style.
BlueFirst passengers will also receive upgraded snacks. Participating brands include Sockerbit, Tosi, Wholesome Bakery, Pop Daddy Snacks and Cape Cod Chips, although availability will depend on route and departure time.
The beverage programme will feature wines selected through New York-based Parcelle. Coffee options will come from Cometeer and Joe Coffee, while Smith Teamaker will provide premium teas.
Additional design touches include glassware from Fable and artist-designed coasters created with New York illustrator Danielle Rose Fisher. Together, these elements are intended to give the service a polished character without adopting an overly formal atmosphere.
Priority services simplify the airport journey
BlueFirst benefits will extend beyond the aircraft. Customers will receive priority check-in, Group 1 boarding and dedicated overhead bin space.
Access to expedited security lanes will be available at more than 30 airports. This could reduce time spent in queues and provide a smoother departure experience for business and leisure passengers.
Travellers purchasing BlueFirst and BlueFirst Flex fares will receive two complimentary checked bags, priority baggage delivery and freedom from change or cancellation fees.
These features address several common pressure points during air travel, including luggage costs, crowded storage space and limited itinerary flexibility.
JetBlue expands its premium network
BlueFirst will complement Mint, JetBlue’s existing premium product for longer domestic and international routes. Together, the two cabins will create a broader range of enhanced travel options across short, long-haul and transatlantic markets.
The product also follows JetBlue’s investment in the BlueHouse lounge network and other premium services. This wider strategy aims to combine upgraded experiences with the airline’s established emphasis on connectivity, entertainment and distinctive customer service.
For travellers, the new cabin will provide more choice on routes where premium options have historically focused mainly on additional space and priority access.
By combining customised seating, connected technology, elevated dining and airport benefits, JetBlue is seeking to establish a more complete domestic first-class experience. BlueFirst could consequently raise passenger expectations for comfort and personalisation across the competitive United States aviation market.
