Taiwan-based STARLUX Airlines is strengthening its presence in the Indian market through a new partnership with InterGlobe Air Transport, which has been appointed the airline’s exclusive passenger and cargo General Sales Agent (GSA) in India. The partnership comes as India’s international aviation market continues to expand, with growing demand for global connectivity and premium travel experiences.
Under the new mandate, InterGlobe Air Transport will oversee sales, marketing, distribution, operational support and regulatory clearances for STARLUX’s passenger and cargo operations in India. The partnership is also expected to support the airline’s brand visibility, strengthen trade relationships, stimulate passenger demand and identify new cargo opportunities across key Indian markets.
The collaboration gives STARLUX access to InterGlobe Air Transport’s established market presence and industry relationships across India, while providing the Taiwanese carrier with a dedicated local commercial structure for both passenger and cargo activities. For Indian travellers and businesses, the partnership is intended to strengthen access to STARLUX’s wider international network through Taiwan.
Strengthening India-Taiwan Air Connectivity
STARLUX Airlines operates a modern fleet and has developed an international network connecting Taiwan with destinations across Asia, North America and other global markets. Its network includes cities and markets in the United States, Czechia, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Simon Liu, Chief Strategy Officer, STARLUX Airlines, said India is an important market in the airline’s long-term network development strategy. He highlighted InterGlobe Air Transport’s market experience and industry relationships as important factors behind the partnership, adding that the two companies aim to introduce more Indian travellers and cargo customers to STARLUX’s service and international network.
JB Singh, Director, InterGlobe Air Transport, said the company was pleased to represent STARLUX in India and support the growth of the premium carrier. He pointed to the airline’s customer-focused approach, modern fleet and emphasis on service, while outlining plans to build brand visibility, expand market reach, drive passenger demand and develop cargo opportunities.
The new GSA appointment arrives at a time when India’s outbound travel market and international trade activity are expanding, while Taiwan is gaining attention among Indian travellers and businesses. Against this backdrop, the partnership is expected to support stronger commercial links between India and Taiwan while connecting Indian customers with STARLUX’s broader international network.
Passenger and Cargo Opportunities
Cargo will be an important component of the new partnership. STARLUX has been developing its dedicated cargo business alongside its passenger operations and has been expanding its capabilities in international air freight. According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), STARLUX Cargo has focused on belly-cargo operations while preparing for the expansion of its dedicated freighter fleet, with ten Airbus A350F freighters planned for delivery from 2028.
The airline established a dedicated cargo structure in 2024 and subsequently began its IATA CEIV certification journey, reflecting its broader focus on specialised and service-oriented air cargo operations.
For InterGlobe Air Transport, the appointment adds STARLUX to its portfolio of airline representation activities and extends its role across both passenger and cargo segments. For STARLUX, the agreement provides a local sales and distribution platform as it develops its India market strategy.
The partnership ultimately reflects the changing dynamics of India’s international aviation landscape, where airlines are looking beyond traditional passenger connectivity to build stronger links across tourism, trade and cargo. With InterGlobe Air Transport handling its passenger and cargo representation in India, STARLUX will look to build greater market visibility while connecting Indian travellers and businesses with its growing global network.
