The Blondie House has opened in Mumbai’s Versova neighbourhood, bringing an all-day café, bakery and dedicated matcha experience into one multi-level space. Created by Bastian Hospitality, it combines familiar offerings from Blondie and Janu with new dishes and areas designed for longer visits.
The venue’s opening adds a distinct stop to Mumbai’s dining scene for visitors exploring the city through food. Guests can arrive for breakfast, return for dessert or spend time reading and working between meals.
A shared dining table, library, photobooth and retail collection extend the experience beyond the menu. The team also plans workshops, book readings, tastings and small community gatherings.
For travellers, the format offers a way to experience local café culture at a slower pace. For Versova, it adds another hospitality venue built around both dining and social activity.
Blondie and Janu Share One Address
Blondie developed a following at its Bandra café through coffee, matcha and a setting that encouraged conversation. Janu brought a more playful expression of Indian flavours to the wider brand.
The Blondie House brings those approaches together while introducing dishes made for the Versova location. Its menu moves between breakfast favourites, Asian-inspired small plates and Indian snacks.
Guests can choose Eggs Japo Style with Miso Butter or the original Blondie Avo Toast in the morning. Other offerings include Pretzel with Miso Honey Butter and Yaki Udon.
Janu favourites such as Pani Puri and Raj Kachori add recognisable Indian flavours. The Truffle Cheese Dosa takes a different approach, combining a benne dosa with three cheeses and white truffle oil.
That variety gives diners several reasons to visit at different times of day. It also reflects how Mumbai’s hospitality venues increasingly bring multiple food traditions into a single neighbourhood setting.
The menu’s breadth may appeal to groups whose members want different things from an outing. One guest can stop for coffee, while others plan a full meal or dessert.
Bakery and Desserts Encourage Return Visits
The bakery counter brings together Blondie favourites and creations developed for the House. Choices include the Pecan Miso Croissant Crown, Matcha Strawberry Tiffin, Sesame Tart and Pineapple and Pandan Religieuse.
Fresh viennoiserie and the brand’s cookies sit alongside those more experimental desserts. A rotating cart will feature seasonal bakes and weekend specials.
The cart is also planned to offer homemade Greek yogurt, frozen yogurt and gelato. A separate froyo cart adds another casual option for guests passing through Versova during the day.
Rotating items could give regular customers something new to discover. For visitors spending several days in Mumbai, they also make a return stop more appealing than a single café visit.
Speciality coffee remains central to the drinks menu. Guests can also choose filter coffee, milkshakes, mocktails and signature beverages including Mont Blanc, Yuzu Daydream and Blondie’s Sakura.
Matcha Becomes a Dedicated Experience
The permanent Matcha Omakase builds on Blondie’s earlier Matcha and Madeleines concept. It focuses on tea preparation, textures and flavour pairings as part of a guided experience.
That format gives matcha a more prominent role than a single drink on the menu. It invites guests to spend time with the process and explore how different presentations affect taste.
The experience adds another cultural dimension to the venue, alongside its food and reading spaces. It may also interest travellers who plan city visits around distinctive cafés and culinary experiences.
Design Makes Space for Community
The interiors combine Japanese hospitality influences with Scandinavian design. Concrete, wood, marble, greenery and natural textures create a calm setting across the venue’s different levels.
Handmade ceramics contribute to that atmosphere. The House also features a custom peach-coloured coffee machine made for the space.
Its library includes works by Korean and Japanese authors, with a book club planned. Merchandise and retail products, including matcha, granola and house coffee, give visitors another way to engage with the venue.
Blondie says it has worked with a woman founder and potter on ceramics and with women farmers on house coffees. These collaborations place independent makers within the guest experience.
Bastian Hospitality founder Ranjit Bindra describes the House as a place people can use throughout their day. Brand Director Natasha Hemani likewise emphasises the freedom to stop for matcha, work, read or simply spend time.
That flexible approach defines the Versova opening. The Blondie House offers Mumbai residents and visitors a dining destination designed for meals, discovery and conversation.
