FCM Travel has launched Sam for Browser, a free AI-powered extension connecting external flight searches with corporate booking systems. The tool also processes receipt images to help business travellers prepare expense entries with less manual input.
Announced in New York on 13 October 2026, the extension supports Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Its features address two recurring business travel tasks: booking approved flights and documenting expenditure after a journey.
FCM, Flight Centre Travel Group’s corporate travel division, is extending its digital assistant beyond its own booking environment. The aim is to make managed travel easier while helping organisations maintain visibility over bookings and expenses.
External Flight Searches Connect With Approved Booking Tools
Employees often explore flight options through consumer travel platforms before completing their company’s booking process. Moving between these environments can require travellers to repeat searches and re-enter journey details.
Sam for Browser connects those activities by transferring relevant search information from supported websites into compatible corporate booking tools. These include FCM Booking and supported Concur environments.
The process reduces duplicated searching and brings travellers back into their organisation’s approved booking channel. However, the extension does not mean every external search result automatically becomes an available corporate fare.
Final booking options depend on the connected platform, available inventory and company travel rules. Travellers still need to review their itinerary before completing a reservation.
Easier Booking Could Strengthen Travel Programme Participation
For corporate travel managers, convenience can influence whether employees use approved systems. A complicated process may encourage travellers to complete bookings outside their organisation’s managed programme.
By simplifying the transition from search to booking, FCM aims to reduce that friction. Greater participation could improve visibility into employee journeys and support the use of negotiated travel arrangements.
The extension may also help travellers consider company policy while completing reservations. Nevertheless, its effectiveness will depend on how participating booking systems apply an organisation’s requirements.
For employees arranging meetings, conferences and client visits, fewer repeated steps could make trip preparation more straightforward.
Receipt Images Help Populate Expense Entries
Sam for Browser also uses artificial intelligence to extract information from photographed receipts. The system identifies details including the merchant, transaction amount and date.
It then uses those details to populate an expense entry within SAP Concur Expense. Travellers review the information before submitting their claims.
That review remains an important part of the process. Automated extraction reduces typing, but employees still need to confirm that the entry accurately reflects their expenditure.
The feature could be particularly useful after journeys involving several receipts. Instead of entering every transaction manually, travellers can focus on checking the populated information and completing required claim details.
Finance Teams Could Gain More Consistent Information
Expense administration affects both travelling employees and the teams processing their claims. Missing transaction details can create additional questions and delay completion of internal reporting.
More consistent data entry could reduce some of that follow-up work. However, the launch information provides no measured reduction in processing time or administrative costs.
The practical benefit will depend on receipt quality, extraction accuracy and the organisation’s expense requirements. Companies may still require employees to add explanations or other supporting information.
For travel departments, the extension brings booking assistance and post-trip administration into the same browser-based tool. That could make routine tasks easier to access throughout the travel cycle.
Free Download Requires Compatible Corporate Systems
FCM has made the extension available without a download charge, including to travellers outside its existing customer base. However, downloading the tool does not provide unrestricted access to every function.
Users need compatible booking or expense systems and an active supported session. Automated expense entries specifically require Concur Expense.
This distinction matters for organisations assessing whether the extension fits their existing technology. A free installation offers limited practical value if the required corporate systems are unavailable.
Travellers should therefore check compatibility before expecting the booking and receipt features to work within their company’s programme.
Launch Expands FCM’s Digital Travel Strategy
FCM presented Sam for Browser at Business Travel Show America on 14–15 October 2026 at New York’s Javits Center. The company plans additional capabilities as development continues.
Jess Dunderdale, FCM Travel’s Global Head of Product, described an approach shaped around changing traveller expectations. The extension places assistance where employees already search, book and manage travel paperwork.
For business travellers, its immediate value centres on fewer repeated searches and less manual receipt entry. For organisations, the opportunity lies in making approved travel processes easier to follow while retaining oversight through compatible systems.
