Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines Deepen Partnership with New Codeshare Routes, Flights, and Lounge Perks Starting August 2025

SINGAPORE / JAKARTA — July 31, 2025 — Southeast Asia’s aviation landscape is set for a major transformation as Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines (SIA) announce a strategic expansion of their long-standing partnership. Beginning August 2025, the two national carriers will roll out a series of enhanced services including expanded codeshare agreements, increased flight frequencies, and reciprocal lounge access—marking a significant leap toward integrated regional travel.

This next chapter in Garuda-SIA collaboration offers passengers greater flexibility, comfort, and connectivity across major routes in Indonesia, Singapore, India, and the Maldives, all while unlocking new frequent flyer perks and streamlining the booking process.

Seamless Travel: Joint Bookings and Fare Integration

Starting this August, travelers will be able to book flights across both carriers under a single itinerary—ideal for multi-leg journeys. This integration simplifies fare options for both leisure and business travelers flying between Singapore and multiple Indonesian cities such as Jakarta, Denpasar (Bali), and Surabaya, as well as onward connections to India and the Maldives.

The partnership includes joint fare products, giving passengers more customized and cost-effective itineraries. Whether flying short-haul between neighboring hubs or embarking on long-haul trips, the collaboration enables smoother transitions and competitive pricing.

Codeshare Expansion: Unlocking New Regional Destinations

The strengthened codeshare agreement gives passengers new access to previously unlinked regional destinations:

  • Garuda Indonesia passengers can now fly under one booking to Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi, and Malé (Maldives) on Singapore Airlines-operated flights, dramatically expanding the airline’s international reach.
  • Meanwhile, SIA passengers gain direct access to domestic Indonesian gems such as:
    • Labuan Bajo (gateway to Komodo National Park) via Denpasar or Jakarta
    • Lombok, known for its pristine beaches and surf culture
    • Manado, a hotspot for diving and marine tourism in North Sulawesi

This move comes as Indonesia continues to position lesser-known destinations at the heart of its “10 New Balis” tourism strategy.

Frequent Flyers Rejoice: Reciprocal Lounge Access and Miles

Another highlight of the enhanced partnership is reciprocal lounge access for elite passengers and loyalty members:

  • GarudaMiles Gold and Platinum members will enjoy premium treatment at Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounges in Singapore, Denpasar, Surabaya, and Jakarta.
  • Likewise, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and PPS Club members will have access to Garuda Indonesia Executive Lounges across key Indonesian airports.

The lounge access will become available from mid-August 2025, enhancing pre-flight experiences with amenities like local cuisine, dedicated check-in, and wellness offerings.

Moreover, travelers can now earn and redeem frequent flyer miles across all newly expanded codeshare routes, following the successful loyalty tie-up launched in February 2025. This integration increases the value of both KrisFlyer and GarudaMiles programs for frequent travelers across Asia.

Increased Flight Frequencies Amid Rising Demand

To meet growing passenger demand between Singapore and Indonesia, both airlines are increasing their service frequency:

  • In May 2025, Singapore Airlines boosted its Singapore–Jakarta flights to nine daily services.
  • Garuda Indonesia will follow suit, raising its Jakarta–Singapore services from six to seven daily flights by Q4 2025, with further increases pending regulatory approval.

This capacity expansion aims to support not only point-to-point travelers but also the growing volume of transit passengers using Singapore Changi Airport as a regional hub.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Regional Tourism

This partnership also reflects a broader alignment with ASEAN tourism growth goals and bilateral economic ties between Singapore and Indonesia.

According to Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Singapore consistently ranks as the top inbound tourism market for Indonesia. In turn, Singapore benefits from high volumes of Indonesian outbound travel, particularly among business, family, and health-related travelers.

“This partnership with Singapore Airlines reflects our joint commitment to a world-class travel experience,” said Wamildan Tsani, President & CEO of Garuda Indonesia. “It also supports stronger economic and tourism ties between our nations.”

Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, added: “By combining our networks and aligning our offerings, we’re creating an unmatched value proposition for travelers in Asia and beyond.”

Looking Ahead: A Model for Regional Airline Collaboration

As competition intensifies across Asia-Pacific aviation markets, the expanded Garuda-SIA partnership sets a template for future airline alliances focused on customer value and regional integration.

The agreement also aligns with broader ASEAN aviation initiatives, including open skies policies and digital mobility infrastructure, to drive growth and connectivity throughout Southeast Asia.

With both carriers pledging future enhancements, travelers can look forward to more seamless, rewarding, and efficient air travel experiences—whether jetting to Komodo Island, sipping tea in Kolkata, or relaxing beachside in the Maldives.
