Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines Expand Partnership with More Flights, Lounge Perks, and Seamless Codeshare Access

Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines expand codeshare, flight options, and lounge access from August 2025, enhancing travel across Asia and the Indian Ocean.

Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines Expand

Starting August 2025, Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will elevate their longstanding partnership by expanding codeshare routes, increasing flight frequencies, launching joint fare products, and introducing reciprocal lounge access for premium passengers. The collaboration is designed to simplify regional and long-haul travel for customers flying between Indonesia, Singapore, and beyond—including key destinations in India and the Maldives.

This expanded cooperation reflects a strategic effort to meet growing passenger demand while offering a more seamless and comfortable travel experience. Both flag carriers are leveraging their networks, loyalty programs, and service offerings to reshape regional air connectivity.

Seamless Travel with Joint Fare Products and Integrated Booking

Passengers flying between Singapore and Indonesia will benefit from joint fare products and the ability to book seamless itineraries across both airlines’ networks. Whether it’s a leisure traveler heading to Bali, a business passenger flying into Jakarta, or an international visitor transiting to India or the Maldives, travelers will enjoy improved convenience and more competitive fare options.

By integrating booking systems and fare classes, travelers can now combine Garuda and SIA flights on a single ticket, simplifying connections and optimizing pricing. This streamlining of the booking process comes as both countries resume robust economic and tourism activity post-pandemic.

Expanded Codeshare Opens Access to More Destinations in Asia

Under the expanded codeshare agreement:

  • Garuda Indonesia passengers gain access to four new Singapore Airlines destinations:
    • Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru in India
    • Malé in the Maldives
  • Singapore Airlines customers will enjoy direct connections via Garuda to:
    • Labuan Bajo (gateway to Komodo Island)
    • Lombok, Manado, and Jakarta (domestic transit hubs)

This adds to the existing shared routes between Singapore and Denpasar (Bali), Jakarta, and Surabaya, ensuring both leisure and business travelers benefit from broader regional coverage.

Frequent Flyer Perks: Lounge Access and Mile Redemption

From mid-August 2025, the partnership also introduces reciprocal lounge access between GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members:

  • Eligible GarudaMiles passengers flying out of Singapore can relax in SIA’s flagship SilverKris Business Class lounges.
  • Meanwhile, KrisFlyer members departing from Jakarta, Denpasar, or Surabaya will have access to Garuda Executive Lounges.

This elevated service aligns both airlines with industry-leading standards and offers a luxurious pre-flight experience for premium travelers.

Additionally, frequent flyer members can earn and redeem miles across both airlines’ newly shared codeshare routes, increasing the value of both loyalty programs and offering broader redemption opportunities.

Flight Frequency Boosts Reflect Soaring Travel Demand

The move comes amid surging demand for air travel between Indonesia and Singapore:

  • As of May 2025, Singapore Airlines increased its daily Jakarta flights to nine.
  • Garuda Indonesia plans to boost its Jakarta–Singapore service to seven daily flights by Q4 2025, up from six.

These additions are expected to alleviate congestion during peak hours, particularly at Changi Airport (SIN) and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), and provide more flexible departure and arrival times for business and leisure travelers.

Depending on regulatory clearance, Garuda also aims to explore further expansions to support regional tourism recovery and cross-border business activity.

Government Support and Bilateral Cooperation

According to Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, air connectivity remains a pillar of the country’s tourism growth strategy. The expanded partnership supports national tourism initiatives promoting lesser-known destinations like Labuan Bajo and Lombok, aligned with the government’s “10 New Balis” campaign to diversify inbound traffic.

From Singapore’s perspective, the collaboration reinforces the city-state’s role as a global air hub. Singapore’s Ministry of Transport has consistently promoted strategic airline partnerships as a way to drive airport competitiveness and expand outbound travel options.

Industry Leaders Speak

Mr. Irfan Setiaputra, CEO of Garuda Indonesia, stated:

“This partnership with Singapore Airlines reflects our shared commitment to delivering a seamless and enhanced travel experience. The expanded network will boost bilateral tourism and support national economic goals.”

Mr. Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, added:

“By offering joint fare products and more codeshare destinations, we’re creating tangible value for our customers and expanding connectivity across Asia and the Indian Ocean.”

Looking Ahead: A Model for Regional Airline Alliances

The Garuda-SIA partnership sets a benchmark for how ASEAN carriers can collaborate to navigate post-pandemic aviation recovery. It not only benefits frequent travelers with exclusive perks but also enhances regional tourism, supports economic cooperation, and improves airport efficiency through shared services and streamlined operations.

With growing momentum in India outbound travel, rising interest in Maldivian resorts, and an uptick in intra-ASEAN tourism, the strategic timing of this expansion positions both airlines for long-term competitiveness.

As more travelers seek convenience, value, and reliability, this alliance between Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines is poised to become a cornerstone of modern air travel in the region.
