Lufthansa Resumes Munich–Riyadh Flights in October 2025 with Airbus A350-900

Lufthansa restarts nonstop Munich–Riyadh service from 26 Oct 2025 with Airbus A350-900, boosting tourism and business links across Europe, US, and Saudi Arabia.

Munich

Lufthansa Restores a Key Air Link

After an eight-year break, Lufthansa will resume nonstop flights between Munich and Riyadh from 26 October 2025, restoring a vital route for tourism and business travelers. The flights will operate three times a week and be served by the cutting-edge Airbus A350-900, offering 293 seats across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins.

This relaunch also celebrates 65 years of Lufthansa’s aviation presence in Saudi Arabia, marking a renewed commitment to the Middle East market.

Flight Schedule for Maximum Connectivity

Flight LH640 will depart Munich at 21:45 and land in Riyadh at 04:50 the following day, while the return LH641 will leave Riyadh at 06:25 and arrive back in Munich at 10:25. The schedule is strategically designed for smooth transfers through Munich Airport’s extensive hub, offering convenient onward connections to destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Expanding Lufthansa Group’s Saudi Arabia Presence

With this addition, Lufthansa Group — which includes Lufthansa, Eurowings, and ITA Airways — will operate 22 weekly flights to Saudi Arabia’s main cities: Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah. Across the wider Middle East, the group will run over 120 weekly flights, strengthening connectivity between Europe and the region.

Airbus A350-900: Comfort and Sustainability

The Airbus A350-900 is one of the most modern long-haul aircraft in the world. Passengers will enjoy quieter cabins, improved air quality, and spacious seating designed for comfort. The aircraft is also more fuel-efficient, supporting the airline’s sustainability goals.

Cabin configuration includes 48 Business Class seats, 21 Premium Economy seats, and 224 Economy seats, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Emerging Tourism Gateway

Riyadh, the Kingdom’s capital, is rapidly becoming a global travel hub. The launch of Riyadh Air in 2025, along with major infrastructure and tourism projects, reflects Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to boost international tourism and business connectivity.

Top Attractions in Riyadh:

  • Sky Bridge at Kingdom Centre: A glass-floor walkway 300 meters above the ground, offering sweeping views of the city and surrounding desert.
  • National Museum of Saudi Arabia: A comprehensive showcase of the Kingdom’s history, featuring ancient artefacts, rock art replicas, and interactive exhibitions.
  • Al Masmak Fortress: A historic site where the unification of modern Saudi Arabia began, now open to visitors as a cultural museum.

Lufthansa Group Winter 2025-26 Strategy

The new Munich–Riyadh route is part of Lufthansa Group’s Winter 2025-26 schedule starting 26 October 2025. The airline is expanding its Allegris premium cabin experience on ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft serving long-haul destinations such as New York, Miami, Shanghai, Cape Town, Tokyo, and Bengaluru.

Frankfurt will also introduce the Allegris cabin on Boeing 787-9 aircraft and retrofitted Boeing 747-8 jets. Munich’s Airbus A380 will continue serving Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bangkok, and Delhi.

Network Growth Across the Group

  • Austrian Airlines: New Innsbruck–Amsterdam route; increased Vienna–Bangkok frequency; Milan flights shifted from Malpensa to Linate.
  • SWISS: More Zurich–Krakow flights; continued long-haul Zurich–Washington DC service; Geneva strengthens UK, Ireland, and Scandinavia links for winter sports travelers.
  • Brussels Airlines: More African flights to Lomé, Dakar, Accra, Conakry, Monrovia, and Freetown.
  • Eurowings: New Berlin–Abu Dhabi flights from November 2025; increased Berlin–Dubai frequencies; new Hanover–Dubai and Stuttgart–Jeddah services.
  • Discover Airlines: New Frankfurt flights to the Seychelles and Punta Cana; Munich–Punta Cana becomes the only direct Caribbean connection from the city; winter flights added to Alta, Norway.

Strategic Impact for Travelers

Lufthansa’s return to the Munich–Riyadh route is expected to boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Germany, the UK, the US, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. The move complements Saudi Arabia’s growing role as a global tourism and events destination, with upcoming milestones like Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034 set to draw millions of international visitors.

The combination of a modern aircraft, well-timed schedules, and expanded connections across Lufthansa Group makes this relaunch a significant enhancement for both leisure and corporate travelers.
