Club Med Manado Set to Debut in 2028: Indonesia Embraces Sustainable Luxury Tourism in North Sulawesi

Club Med and Paradise Indonesia open Club Med Manado in 2028—a sustainable all-inclusive resort in North Sulawesi with 250 rooms, BREEAM “Very Good” target, 1,000+ jobs.

Club Med Manado Set to Debut in 2028

Manado, Indonesia, August 2025 — Indonesia’s tourism sector gears up for a transformative new addition with the announcement of Club Med Manado—an upscale resort designed with sustainability at its core. Slated to open in 2028, this resort marks the collaboration between Club Med and PT Grahatama Kreasibaru (GKB), operating under the “Paradise Indonesia” brand. The partnership was formalized through a Hotel Management Agreement signed at Club Med Bali, reaffirming Club Med’s deepening presence in the Indonesian archipelago.

This marks Club Med’s third property in Indonesia, following the iconic Club Med Bali (est. 1984) and Club Med Bintan (1997). As part of this expansion, Club Med is simultaneously renewing its land-use agreement for Bali and rolling out renovations in Bintan—signaling a long-term strategic commitment to elevating tourism offerings in the country.

A Resort Built for Nature and Luxury

Set along North Sulawesi’s east bay and only a 70-minute drive from Sam Ratulangi International Airport, Club Med Manado will offer 250 rooms with uninterrupted views of the Molucca Sea and Mount Klabat—the region’s highest peak. Club Med plans to weave together indoor comfort and outdoor splendor, offering signature perks such as Kids Club, Amazing! Family programs, recreational activities spanning water sports to cultural experiences, and an Exclusive Collection for travelers seeking elevated privacy and service.

Dining at Club Med Manado will showcase the bold flavors of Manadonese cuisine, married with global culinary finesse—highlighting the region’s vibrant food culture as an integral part of the experience.

Sustainability and Community at the Forefront

A central pillar of Club Med Manado is its sustainable design philosophy. The resort aims for BREEAM “Very Good” certification, ensuring eco-conscious practices across all stages of construction and operation. Beyond environmental stewardship, the development prioritizes economic and social benefits—projecting the creation of more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, supporting local employment and talent development in the hospitality industry.

Club Med will also leverage local culinary expertise and partnerships with regional producers and artisans, furthering community engagement and cultural preservation while bolstering local commerce.

A Strategic Boost for North Sulawesi Tourism

Once operational, Club Med Manado will likely become a catalyst for regional tourism growth, enhancing North Sulawesi’s appeal as a luxury travel destination that balances comfort, adventure, and cultural immersion. The resort is poised to attract discerning international and domestic travelers, boosting local ancillary sectors including transportation, dining, and cultural tourism.

The project also reflects Indonesia’s broader vision for diversifying its tourism portfolio beyond established hubs like Bali and Jakarta—placing destinations like North Sulawesi firmly on the global travel map.

Looking Ahead

The unveiling of Club Med Manado marks a pivotal moment in Indonesia’s hospitality landscape—introducing a resort that pairs sustainable architecture, cultural depth, and premium hospitality. Scheduled for 2028, the resort promises to define the next frontier of responsible high-end travel in Southeast Asia.

As Club Med continues to invest across Indonesia, the industry can anticipate a ripple effect of elevated tourism infrastructure, contributor economies, and culturally resonant traveler experiences. Club Med Manado is more than a resort—it’s a beacon of modern, inclusive, and eco-conscious leisure in one of the world’s most biodiverse settings.
