Hilton Names New Boss for NYC Flagship Hotel

Ted Selogie joins as GM of New York Hilton Midtown, bringing 30+ years of hospitality leadership to elevate guest experiences in the heart of Manhattan.

Ted

Hilton has named Ted Selogie as the new General Manager of the New York Hilton Midtown, one of the city’s most iconic and largest hotels. Located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, just steps from Central Park and Times Square, the 1,878-room hotel is a key destination for tourists and business travelers alike.

As General Manager, Selogie will oversee all hotel operations—from daily guest services to team leadership and commercial performance. His focus will be on enhancing the guest experience, increasing operational efficiency, and leading the hotel into its next era of excellence.

“It’s a true honor to lead this landmark hotel in the heart of Manhattan,” said Selogie. “Together with our dedicated team, I look forward to creating memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.”

A Seasoned Hospitality Leader

Selogie brings over 30 years of hotel industry experience to this role. He has held leadership positions with several top global hospitality brands, including Marriott International, Accor, Fairmont, and now Hilton. His career began as a barback at the North Shore Hilton in Skokie, Illinois—now a DoubleTree by Hilton—and steadily progressed through roles of increasing responsibility.

Before joining the New York Hilton Midtown, Selogie served as the General Manager of Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, where his leadership helped the hotel earn a Forbes 5-Star Spa rating and rank as TripAdvisor’s #1 luxury hotel in LA. His ability to drive results while maintaining high service standards makes him an ideal fit for the Midtown property.

“Ted’s leadership and experience will be key to the ongoing success of New York Hilton Midtown,” said Diarmuid Dwyer, Hilton’s Area Vice President of Operations. “His passion for hospitality and talent for building strong teams will help keep this property at the top.”

Broad Industry Experience

In addition to his work at Fairmont, Selogie previously served as Regional Vice President at Accor, managing hotels under brands such as Fairmont, Sofitel, and Swissôtel in major markets like New York, Chicago, and California. He also oversaw 13 hotels in the Chicago area as an Area General Manager, gaining valuable expertise in leading complex, high-traffic properties.

A Leader in the Industry and the Community

Selogie is known not only for his business results but also for his commitment to giving back. He has served on advisory boards and committees for groups like the California Hotel & Lodging Association, Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association, and Visit California. He also supports hospitality education through partnerships with DePaul University’s School of Hospitality and has worked with nonprofit organizations like SOS Children’s Villages and PINK House.

Looking Ahead for Hilton Midtown NYC

Opened in 1963, the New York Hilton Midtown has long been a landmark in Manhattan’s hotel scene. It has hosted U.S. presidents, world leaders, and major events over the decades. With over 150,000 square feet of meeting space, it remains a key destination for both business events and leisure travel.

New York City’s tourism continues to rebound, with over 61 million visitors in 2023, according to NYC Tourism + Conventions. With Selogie now leading the team, Hilton Midtown is well-positioned to continue welcoming guests from all over the world with excellence and world-class service.

Selogie’s appointment is part of Hilton’s ongoing commitment to strong leadership and delivering top-tier guest experiences. As the company continues to expand worldwide, it remains focused on innovation, hospitality, and sustainability—and the Midtown property plays a vital role in that mission.
