Russia Eyes 2027 Airfare Surcharge to Fund Domestic Aircraft
Russia is considering a surcharge on domestic and international airline tickets from 2027 to help finance Russian-built passenger aircraft. Preliminary figures put the charge at 500 roubles for domestic flights and 1,000 roubles for international services. The amounts remain subject to government approval. The proposal would help fund leasing and operating costs for 258 aircraft.
