Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, SalamAir, Thai AirAsia X, Air Arabia, and Eurowings are leading the transformation with strategic services designed to support both tourism and trade.

Industry analysts expect this surge in connectivity to make travel smoother and more accessible, while allowing more tourists to explore diverse regions—from Central Europe to Southeast Asia and the Gulf.

Emirates Launches New Routes to Europe and the Middle East

Emirates continues to widen its footprint with fresh 2025 routes aimed at strengthening its global reach.

Dubai–Vienna: A Major Boost for Austria Tourism

From December 1, 2025, Emirates will launch new direct flights between Dubai and Vienna. The airline will operate five weekly services, adding a convenient link to one of Europe’s most cultural capitals.

Vienna, known for its imperial palaces, winter concerts, and vibrant museums, expects a strong rise in visitor numbers from the Gulf. Meanwhile, travelers from Austria will gain easier access to Dubai’s tourism attractions and onward routes across Asia and the Indian Ocean.

More Flights to Cairo

Emirates will also increase Dubai–Cairo flights to a total of 35 weekly services by December 2025. A fifth daily flight will follow by February 2026. This expansion supports the growing flow of visitors to Egypt’s historical sites and strengthens business links between both countries.

Qatar Airways Widens Access to Africa and Southeast Asia

Qatar Airways is also scaling up its network with new frequencies to high-demand destinations.

Higher Lagos Flight Frequency

Starting December 15, 2025, Doha–Lagos flights will rise from 10 to 14 weekly services. Lagos is one of West Africa’s largest commercial hubs, making this addition key for business and tourism growth between Nigeria and the Middle East.

More Flights to Kuala Lumpur

Qatar Airways will raise its Doha–Kuala Lumpur service from 14 to 17 weekly flights. Malaysia’s tourism sector, which features rainforests, beaches, and vibrant cultural districts, is expected to benefit from the increased accessibility.

Etihad Airways Opens New Gateway to Afghanistan

Etihad Airways will take a bold step in expanding its reach by launching flights between Abu Dhabi and Kabul from December 18, 2025.

Strategic Route with Strong Regional Impact

The service will operate three times a week. It offers important connectivity for travelers moving between the Gulf and South Asia. Etihad’s move also supports Kabul’s efforts to strengthen its international air links after years of limited access.

SalamAir Strengthens Oman–Saudi Arabia Tourism

SalamAir will introduce a new direct service between Muscat and Abha on December 16, 2025.

A Growing Tourism Hotspot

Abha’s cool climate, green mountains, and cultural heritage make it one of Saudi Arabia’s rising tourism destinations. SalamAir will operate four weekly flights, giving travelers in Oman an affordable option to explore Saudi Arabia’s southwest region. The route will also encourage more Saudi visitors to Muscat’s beaches and historic sites.

Thai AirAsia X Connects Thailand and Saudi Arabia

A major highlight of the 2025 aviation expansion comes from Thai AirAsia X.

First-Ever Riyadh–Bangkok Route

From December 2, 2025, the airline will operate four weekly flights between Riyadh and Bangkok. This new link brings two fast-growing tourism markets closer than ever.

Travelers from Saudi Arabia will enjoy easier access to Thailand’s beaches, cultural festivals, and cuisine. Meanwhile, Thai tourists and businesses will gain a new entry point into the Gulf.

Air Arabia Adds New Connections to Germany

Air Arabia will launch its first-ever service to Germany with daily flights from Sharjah to Munich beginning December 15, 2025.

Affordable Access to Central Europe

The route strengthens ties between the UAE and Germany and gives travelers an affordable option to explore Bavaria’s cultural and outdoor attractions. Munich’s popularity as a winter travel hub makes the timing even more favorable.

Eurowings Debuts Dubai–Düsseldorf Service

Eurowings will join the list of airlines expanding their Gulf presence.

New Link for Europe–Middle East Travel

From December 13, 2025, Eurowings will operate three weekly flights between Dubai and Düsseldorf. The service offers more variety for both leisure and business travelers heading to Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region.

A New Era for Tourism and Air Travel

The Middle East’s 2025 aviation strategy reflects a unified push to enhance global tourism. These new flight routes give travelers shorter journeys, more choices, and better access to cultural, commercial, and leisure attractions.

From Vienna’s classical charm to Bangkok’s tropical energy, and from Cairo’s ancient treasures to Lagos’s thriving business scene, the newly expanded network connects millions of travelers to some of the world’s most dynamic cities.

As airlines deepen regional and international connectivity, 2025 stands out as a transformative year for global tourism and the Middle East’s role in shaping it.
