American Express Expands Luxury Hotel Network With 400+ New Properties Across Global Destinations

American Express Travel is significantly expanding its premium accommodation network, adding more than 400 properties across Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection as luxury travelers demand increasingly personalized and experience-led journeys.

The expansion introduces hotels across 49 new destinations and takes the combined portfolio beyond 3,100 curated properties in 114 countries and territories. American Express announced the additions as part of a wider effort to provide eligible Card Members with greater choice across luxury resorts, boutique hotels and premium city stays.

The development strengthens American Express Travel’s presence in the global luxury hospitality market at a time when affluent travelers are placing greater value on distinctive accommodation, flexible services and benefits that extend beyond the room itself.

For tourism destinations, broader inclusion within premium hotel networks can also increase visibility among international visitors who tend to spend across accommodation, restaurants, shopping, wellness and local experiences.

More than 3,100 curated hotels now available

Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection serve different segments of the premium accommodation market while giving eligible travelers access to additional benefits when reservations meet programme conditions.

The latest expansion includes more than 400 additional properties across established and emerging luxury destinations. American Express says the enlarged network now reaches more than 3,100 hotels worldwide.

This diversity is increasingly important because luxury tourism no longer follows a single model.

Some travelers want beachfront resorts and wellness escapes. Others prefer historic European hotels, design-focused urban properties or smaller boutique accommodation offering stronger connections with local culture.

Expanding the hotel portfolio gives travelers more opportunities to incorporate those preferences into their itineraries.

Fine Hotels + Resorts adds valuable stay benefits

Fine Hotels + Resorts remains one of American Express Travel’s flagship premium hotel programmes for eligible Platinum Card Members.

Participating stays can include benefits such as breakfast for two, room upgrades when available, property-specific credits and guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout. Individual benefits and eligibility depend on the applicable Card, market and booking conditions.

The late-checkout benefit can be particularly valuable for international travelers.

Guests departing on evening flights can spend more time at a destination without arranging additional accommodation or leaving their hotel several hours before airport transfers.

Room upgrades and hotel credits can similarly enhance the overall experience, particularly at resorts where travelers may use spas, restaurants or other on-property facilities.

The Hotel Collection expands the choice further for eligible Card Members, with participating bookings generally requiring a minimum two-night stay. American Express currently lists more than 1,000 hotels within this segment of its accommodation network.

United States remains central to luxury growth

The expansion creates additional premium travel opportunities across major tourism markets, including the United States.

American travelers and international visitors increasingly combine major cities with coastal destinations, wellness resorts and nature-focused stays.

Markets such as New York, California, Hawaii, Miami and Arizona demonstrate the breadth of the American luxury tourism sector. Travelers can move between metropolitan cultural experiences, beachfront accommodation, desert retreats and resort destinations within one country.

This variety reflects a broader shift in luxury tourism.

Premium travelers increasingly evaluate hotels based not only on room quality but also on location, architecture, wellness facilities, dining, service and access to local experiences.

As a result, accommodation is becoming a central part of destination selection rather than simply an element booked after flights are confirmed.

Luxury travelers increasingly seek complete journeys

American Express Travel’s strategy extends beyond hotels.

For eligible Card Members, the wider travel ecosystem can include airport lounge access and other premium services designed to make different stages of a journey more comfortable.

The American Express Global Lounge Collection currently provides eligible Platinum Card Members access to more than 1,550 airport lounges across 140 countries, including locations within the Centurion Network and participating partner networks.

This combination of accommodation and airport benefits reflects the changing expectations of high-value travelers.

Luxury customers increasingly want consistency from departure through arrival rather than isolated premium experiences.

Hotel benefits, lounge access, travel planning and personalized services can therefore become interconnected elements of the overall journey.

Premium hotel networks support destination economies

The expansion also carries implications for tourism destinations.

Luxury visitors can generate spending well beyond their hotels through restaurants, retail, cultural attractions, private transportation, wellness experiences and guided activities.

Adding properties in new destinations can expose those markets to travelers already searching within established premium travel programmes.

Boutique hotels may also help direct visitors toward neighborhoods or secondary destinations that receive less international attention than major tourism centers.

That can distribute visitor spending more broadly and encourage travelers to explore beyond traditional gateways.

Experience-led luxury shapes the future of travel

American Express Travel’s hotel expansion reflects a global hospitality market increasingly driven by experience, personalization and convenience.

Travelers still expect premium accommodation standards, but the definition of luxury is becoming broader.

Flexible departure times, distinctive design, local culture, wellness, gastronomy and personalized service increasingly influence booking decisions.

By adding more than 400 properties across 49 new destinations, American Express Travel is responding to that change with greater geographical and experiential variety.

For travelers, the result is a wider selection of premium hotels and resorts. For destinations and hospitality businesses, the expansion creates another channel for attracting valuable international demand as luxury tourism becomes increasingly experience-focused and globally connected.
