Ritz-Carlton Amman Targets Saudi Travellers With a Luxury “Home Away From Home”

The Ritz-Carlton, Amman is strengthening its focus on Saudi travellers through personalised hospitality, cultural understanding and greater visibility in the Kingdom.

Mousa Saffouri, Director of Sales and Distribution at The Ritz-Carlton, Amman, said Saudi visitors often feel “home away from home” in Jordan because of the strong cultural understanding between the neighbouring markets.

Saudi Arabia ranks among Jordan’s important visitor markets in 2026, making it commercially significant for the country’s hotels, attractions and wider tourism economy. For the Ritz-Carlton property, this demand is supported by existing Saudi familiarity with the international luxury brand.

The hotel is now building stronger market relationships while reviewing options that could improve its reach across leisure and corporate travel. However, its strategy remains centred on personal service rather than a major change in distribution.

Jordan Offers Familiarity For Saudi Visitors

Jordan occupies a cultural position connecting the Levant with the Gulf. This creates a sense of familiarity for Saudi travellers while still offering a distinctive international journey.

Shared language, regional customs and similar approaches to hospitality can make travel easier for families, leisure guests and business visitors. Meanwhile, Amman provides access to Jordanian cuisine, heritage and modern city experiences.

Saudi guests can also use the capital as a starting point for wider itineraries covering Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea and other leading destinations. Strong demand from the Kingdom therefore benefits more than Amman’s accommodation market.

Visitor spending can support restaurants, transport providers, tour operators, retailers and attractions throughout Jordan. Luxury travellers may also book larger rooms, tailored excursions, premium dining and longer multi-generational stays.

Global Brand Adopts A Jordanian Identity

The Ritz-Carlton, Amman opened on May 29, 2022, attracting interest from Saudi clients already familiar with the brand’s presence and service standards.

However, the property has not sought to reproduce the same hotel experience found elsewhere. Its guiding concept is “Ritz-Carlton inspired by Jordan, crafted for you.”

This approach combines the brand’s international luxury positioning with local character. The concept influences both the hotel’s physical identity and the way employees engage with guests.

Cultural etiquette, individual preferences and guest expectations remain important parts of service delivery. Team members receive training to understand how different travellers may prefer to communicate and receive assistance.

For Saudi guests, that awareness supports a familiar and comfortable stay. For visitors from other regions, it creates a service model that remains international while retaining a clear connection with Jordan.

Employees Bring Luxury Hospitality To Life

Saffouri emphasised that marble, architecture and premium materials cannot create a memorable hotel experience by themselves. Employees give a luxury property its character.

Recruitment and training were therefore major priorities before the Amman hotel opened. The property sought people capable of combining Jordanian hospitality with the Ritz-Carlton service culture.

Jordanian employees form the majority of the workforce. However, the hotel also recruits team members from different nationalities to support guests with varied languages, customs and expectations.

Visitors arrive from Asia, the Far East, Eastern Europe and Western Europe, alongside important regional markets. Languages regularly encountered include English, French and Spanish.

The aim is to provide the same underlying service values while adjusting the approach for individual guests. This balance helps the hotel deliver personal attention without creating inconsistent standards between nationalities.

WTM Riyadh Supports Saudi Visibility

Participation in WTM Riyadh forms part of the hotel’s effort to improve its visibility within Saudi Arabia. The event provides opportunities to meet travel companies, corporate buyers and tourism partners in a priority market.

Saffouri described his first visit to Saudi Arabia and the inaugural Riyadh event positively. The hotel’s participation indicates that face-to-face relationships will remain important as it develops regional demand.

This visibility could help attract luxury leisure travellers, corporate guests, meetings and celebrations. It may also encourage tourism professionals to include Amman within wider regional itineraries.

Distribution Options Remain Under Study

The hotel continues operating through Marriott International’s established channels, including arrangements supporting travel management companies and their commission requirements.

Additional leisure distribution options are being evaluated, although no new partnership has been confirmed. The review aims to identify ways of becoming more reachable across different markets without moving away from the wider Marriott system.

For now, the Saudi strategy is based on brand recognition, cultural familiarity and carefully adapted service.

The Ritz-Carlton, Amman sees an opportunity to offer Saudi travellers international luxury within a destination that feels welcoming and culturally connected. By combining Jordanian identity with personalised hospitality, the property is positioning itself to capture more high-value regional demand while contributing to Jordan’s broader tourism growth.
