SINGAPORE — Singapore Airlines has unveiled comprehensive upgrades to its passenger cabin technology, introducing a next-generation KrisWorld inflight entertainment system alongside high-speed satellite connectivity. The multi-faceted system overhaul brings together 4K high-resolution touchscreen displays, spatial audio engineering, ultra-low-latency broadband, and personalized digital services designed to offer travelers greater choice, flexibility, and control.
The official announcement highlights the progressive rollout of the next-generation KrisWorld platform across 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and A350-900 ultra-long-range aircraft starting in early 2027, as well as on incoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft. The technological rollout forms part of a broader passenger experience transformation that encompasses updated cabin interiors, refreshed dining concepts, and enhanced ground operations.
Next-Generation Displays and Immersive Spatial Audio
Central to the upgraded KrisWorld platform is a major advancement in display quality and sound architecture. The airline is introducing 4K high-resolution screens across cabin tiers, featuring premium OLED technology on selected aircraft and cabin sections.
First Class suites will sport 32-inch 4K touchscreen monitors, while Business Class cabins will feature displays measuring up to 22 inches. On the incoming Boeing 777-9 fleet, Premium Economy Class monitors will measure up to 16 inches, with Economy Class screens scaling up to 13 inches. These advanced displays deliver superior contrast ratios, sharper detail, and enhanced color accuracy for long-haul viewing comfort.
To complement the upgraded visual hardware, spatial audio technology creates a realistic three-dimensional soundscape. Sound engineering enhancements deliver crisp dialogue, dynamic action soundscapes, and clear audio separation. Passengers traveling in First Class will receive Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth wireless active noise-canceling headphones. Active noise-canceling headsets will also be provided in Business Class and Premium Economy, while travelers in all cabins retain the flexibility to pair their personal Bluetooth wireless headphones directly to the onboard system.
Redesigned User Interface and Expanded Content Library
The digital KrisWorld user interface has been completely redesigned to simplify content navigation. The new interface includes cleaner menus, larger touch targets, customizable shortcuts, and enhanced search filtering.
A new mini-player function allows passengers to keep a video playing in a scaled-down window while simultaneously browsing through other media catalogs or checking flight updates. A dedicated side menu provides real-time flight metrics, destination arrival times, and landing weather forecasts without interrupting media playback. For families, a built-in Kids’ Mode presents a curated selection of age-appropriate movies, TV series, and audio programs within a simplified visual interface.
The media library offers over 2,500 entertainment choices, updated monthly to reflect consumer preferences and viewing trends. The selection includes full box sets and content partnerships with Apple TV, BBC, CNA, HBO Max, iQIYI, and Paramount+, as well as live news and live sports broadcasts on BBC News and Sport 24 channels.
Personalized Seat Settings and Digital Wellness Integration
The upgraded platform brings deeper personalization features for frequent flyers through KrisFlyer loyalty account integration. Passengers can log in to receive tailored viewing recommendations, pick up media playback from where they stopped on a previous flight, and bookmark titles for upcoming travel.
First Class and Business Class passengers on retrofitted A350-900s and Boeing 777-9s can save preferred seat positions for dining, relaxing, and sleeping to automatically reapply them on future flights. First Class travelers can also save custom ambient lighting presets to recreate their preferred cabin environment across multiple journeys.
Additionally, a dedicated wellness planner offers integrated health tools, including guided meditation tracks, breathing exercises, in-seat stretching routines, and tips for staying hydrated and rested during long-haul flights. The system also suggests optimal lighting schedules and seat adjustments to help mitigate travel fatigue.
High-Speed Satellite Connectivity via Starlink
To complement KrisWorld, Singapore Airlines is introducing Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband service across its Airbus A380, A350-900 long-haul, and A350-900ULR fleets progressively from early 2027.
The satellite technology enables fast, low-latency Wi-Fi coverage from gate to gate, allowing passengers to stream high-definition video, play online games, conduct video calls, and work seamlessly during flight. Unlimited complimentary Wi-Fi access will continue to be offered to passengers in Suites, First Class, and Business Class, as well as PPS Club members and KrisFlyer members traveling in Premium Economy and Economy Class.
To keep personal electronic devices powered throughout long journeys, the airline is equipping retrofitted cabins with fast-charging USB-C ports alongside wireless charging pads in First Class and Business Class cabins.
