AirAsia Philippines Wins Three Asia Pacific Awards as Digital Campaigns Inspire a New Generation of Travellers

AirAsia Philippines has secured three major recognitions at the Advertising Asia Pacific Awards 2026, strengthening its position as an innovative force in digital travel marketing.

The airline received two Silver awards and a national award for campaigns that connected with digitally active travellers through social media, music, creators and locally relevant tourism experiences.

AirAsia Philippines competed alongside 56 brands and 47 agencies from across the Asia Pacific region. Its campaigns received recognition for Best Use of TikTok, Best Use of Sound or Music in Campaign and Best Seasonal Campaign.

The awards reflect a wider transformation in airline marketing. Carriers are no longer promoting destinations only through conventional advertisements, fare announcements and printed campaigns.

Instead, digital storytelling is becoming a gateway through which travellers discover destinations, compare experiences and make booking decisions.

Younger travellers reshape destination discovery

Gen Z and Millennial travellers are playing an increasingly important role in shaping tourism trends across Asia.

These travellers frequently use short-form videos, creator recommendations, music and social communities when choosing destinations. Airlines must therefore communicate through platforms and formats that feel relevant to their daily lives.

AirAsia Philippines President and General Manager Anna Victorio Lu said younger travellers represent a growing share of the airline’s market. Their strong use of digital platforms continues to influence destination discovery and travel behaviour.

The airline’s award-winning campaigns were designed to respond to this changing environment. Rather than concentrating entirely on selling seats, AirAsia used entertainment and relatable storytelling to build stronger emotional connections.

This approach helped transform the airline into a travel lifestyle brand while supporting destination awareness and commercial performance.

LFG campaign turns music into travel inspiration

The “LFG! Let’s Fly and Go” campaign played a major role in AirAsia Philippines’ success.

It received recognition for Best Use of Sound or Music in Campaign after combining an original jingle with TikTok content, Meta platforms and creator partnerships.

Music gave the campaign a memorable identity. It allowed AirAsia to communicate the excitement of travel in a format that audiences could recognise, share and recreate.

The campaign moved beyond traditional advertising messages centred on fares and schedules. Instead, it spoke directly to the aspirations of travellers seeking affordable adventures, spontaneous holidays and new cultural experiences.

Through energetic digital content, the airline linked travel inspiration with practical opportunities across its network.

The campaign also strengthened AirAsia’s relationship with younger passengers by using familiar digital formats. This helped the brand remain visible before travellers began actively searching for flights.

Traveller Squad highlights authentic experiences

AirAsia Philippines also secured Silver recognition for Best Use of TikTok through its AirAsia Traveler Squad initiative.

The creator-led campaign featured authentic experiences from destinations across the airline’s network. Rather than presenting heavily scripted promotions, creators shared personal journeys, local discoveries and practical travel moments.

This approach reflects the increasing influence of peer recommendations in modern tourism.

Travellers often view creator content as more relatable than conventional advertising. Personal storytelling can introduce unfamiliar places while helping audiences understand what an actual journey may feel like.

One notable outcome involved growing interest among Filipino travellers in Kazakhstan. Creator-generated content increased curiosity about the country’s landscapes, culture and visitor experiences.

AirAsia’s Fly-Thru network then helped turn that interest into accessible travel opportunities. Passengers could connect through the airline’s regional hubs to reach destinations beyond its direct Philippine services.

The campaign demonstrated how social media can transform a lesser-known destination into a realistic holiday option.

Fiesta Series supports domestic tourism

AirAsia Philippines received the national award for Best Seasonal Campaign through its AirAsia Fiesta Series 2026.

The campaign promoted some of the Philippines’ largest cultural festivals while combining attractive fares with locally focused digital content.

Festivals such as Sinulog, Dinagyang and Ati-Atihan attract travellers through music, performances, religious traditions, food and community celebrations.

By connecting flight promotions with these events, AirAsia encouraged Filipinos to travel beyond major urban centres and experience the country’s regional culture.

The campaign also supported local tourism businesses. Increased festival travel can benefit hotels, restaurants, transport providers, attractions and small enterprises.

AirAsia organised promotional activities and concerts around major celebrations, creating additional engagement with travellers and local communities.

This strategy showed how airline marketing can strengthen both passenger demand and destination development.

Tourism partnerships widen campaign impact

The awards also support AirAsia Philippines’ broader commitment to affordable and accessible travel.

The airline has worked with the Philippine Department of Tourism on the “Discover More to Love” campaign. The initiative encourages year-round domestic travel and promotes destinations across the country.

AirAsia’s regional Fly-Thru network extends that strategy internationally by connecting Filipino passengers with destinations across ASEAN, Asia and Eurasia.

The airline was also named a finalist for Best Brand Storytelling and Best Use of Meta in Campaigns. These additional recognitions underline its growing influence across the Asia Pacific marketing sector.

Digital campaigns shape future airline competition

Airlines increasingly compete through more than routes, ticket prices and onboard services.

The digital experience now begins before a passenger visits a booking platform. Social media, music and creator stories can influence where people travel and how they perceive a destination.

AirAsia Philippines’ award-winning campaigns demonstrate how creative marketing can support tourism growth while building stronger passenger relationships.

By combining affordable connectivity with authentic storytelling, the airline is turning digital platforms into gateways for cultural exploration, regional tourism and international discovery.
