Emirates Launches Third Daily Dubai–Nairobi Flight, Boosting Kenya Tourism, Trade and Global Connectivity

Emirates has launched its third daily flight between Dubai and Nairobi, expanding the route to twenty-one weekly services and delivering a major connectivity boost for Kenya’s tourism, trade, cargo and business travel sectors.

The additional service, EK717, departs Dubai International Airport at 01:20 and arrives at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 05:25. The return flight, EK718, leaves Nairobi at 07:10 and lands in Dubai at 13:15.

Operated with a three-class Boeing 777, the new frequency gives passengers greater flexibility while improving connections between Kenya and major markets across Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

The expansion follows sustained demand on Emirates’ existing double-daily Nairobi operation and reinforces the airline’s long-term commitment to the Kenyan market.

Early Arrival Supports Safari and Coastal Tourism

The morning arrival gives international visitors more time to continue their journeys beyond Nairobi on the same day.

Travellers landing before sunrise can connect with domestic flights, road transfers and safari services to destinations including the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, Laikipia, the Rift Valley and Kenya’s Indian Ocean coast.

This timing can significantly improve the visitor experience. Tour operators, lodges and destination management companies can arrange earlier transfers, smoother check-ins and more efficient itineraries for travellers seeking to maximise shorter holidays.

The additional capacity also supports Kenya’s position as a diverse tourism destination offering wildlife experiences, beaches, cultural attractions, adventure activities, urban tourism and meetings and events.

Improved access is particularly important as Kenya works towards welcoming five million international visitors by 2030. Stronger airline connectivity remains a central requirement for expanding arrivals, supporting tourism employment and generating greater economic value for communities.

Business Travellers Gain More Same-Day Connections

The early departure from Nairobi also strengthens the city’s position as a regional business and diplomatic hub.

Passengers travelling through Dubai gain improved access to commercial centres including London, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Rome, Milan and Lisbon. The schedule can help executives, investors, traders and conference delegates reach several European destinations within the same travel day.

More departure options also reduce pressure on existing flights and provide greater flexibility for corporate travellers, diaspora passengers and regional visitors.

Nairobi already serves as an important gateway linking East Africa with Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America. The third daily service deepens that role while making Kenya more accessible to international investors and tourism partners.

Kenya Airways Partnership Expands Regional Reach

The route also benefits from the interline partnership between Emirates and Kenya Airways.

Introduced in 2023, the agreement allows passengers to travel across both airlines’ networks on coordinated itineraries, with baggage checked through to the final destination where applicable.

More than 31,000 passengers have used the arrangement, connecting through Nairobi to destinations including Rwanda, Kilimanjaro, Mozambique and other regional markets.

The third daily flight provides additional connection windows and strengthens Nairobi’s function as a transfer point for travel across East Africa.

This wider regional access can also support multi-country tourism itineraries, allowing international visitors to combine Kenya’s safari and coastal products with neighbouring destinations.

Cargo Expansion Benefits Flowers and Fresh Produce

The new passenger flight provides an important freight advantage for Kenyan exporters.

Emirates has added approximately 280 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity through the Boeing 777’s belly-hold space. This additional uplift will benefit time-sensitive exports such as fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables.

The morning departure is particularly valuable for producers requiring rapid cold-chain transport to markets in Europe, the Gulf and other international destinations.

Together with three weekly Emirates SkyCargo freighter services, the airline now offers more than 1,100 tonnes of weekly goods capacity into and out of Kenya.

This capacity supports agriculture, logistics, employment and foreign-exchange earnings while helping Kenyan exporters maintain product freshness and reach global buyers more efficiently.

Three Decades of Emirates Operations in Kenya

Emirates began serving Nairobi in 1995 and has since carried more than 6.6 million passengers to and from Kenya.

Over three decades, Dubai has developed into an important connecting hub for travellers from markets including China, South Korea, Thailand, Australia and the United States.

The expansion therefore builds on an established route rather than opening an untested market. Strong passenger demand, growing trade links and Kenya’s tourism ambitions have created a solid foundation for the additional service.

JKIA Modernisation Supports Future Growth

The launch comes as Kenya advances plans to modernise Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The proposed development includes expanded terminal capacity, improved landside infrastructure and a new runway designed to increase aircraft movements and operational efficiency.

JKIA handled approximately 8.8 million passengers in 2025, exceeding its current designed capacity. Planned upgrades are intended to improve passenger experience, attract more airlines and accommodate rising tourism and cargo demand.

Emirates’ third daily Dubai–Nairobi flight therefore forms part of a broader growth cycle involving airline expansion, airport development, trade facilitation and tourism promotion.

For Kenya, the service provides more than additional seats. It strengthens access to safari regions, coastal resorts, business centres and regional connections while creating new opportunities for exporters, tourism operators, hotels and local communities.
