Fukuoka Airport Unveils TABISIA Shopping and Hotel Complex for 2027

Fukuoka Airport plans to open TABISIA, an 11-storey shopping, dining and hotel complex, in summer 2027. The development will connect directly to the domestic terminal and welcome passengers and visitors without flights.

The project will combine approximately 180 new commercial outlets, an Asian food hall, a 165-room hotel and bus facilities. Construction began in April 2025, with completion scheduled for spring 2027.

Fukuoka International Airport announced the TABISIA name on 27 October 2026. The airport operator aims to make the complex a destination for shopping and dining, alongside its transport role.

The development could give travellers more options before a flight or after arriving in Kyushu. It could also give local residents and other visitors reasons to spend time at the airport.

More Shops Before Security

The airport operator’s latest plan anticipates around 180 outlets within the new complex. Together with existing domestic terminal businesses, the total would reach approximately 280.

Visitors will find the commercial areas before security screening, allowing them to explore without a boarding pass. That access could make TABISIA useful for people meeting friends or relatives at the airport.

The first floor will feature a market area with a supermarket and everyday products. The second floor will focus on Kyushu food and crafts, giving visitors opportunities to explore regional specialities.

A third-floor character area will bring together Japanese popular culture. These themes could appeal to families, shoppers and visitors seeking souvenirs before departure.

The airport’s earlier construction announcement projected approximately 270 outlets across the combined facilities. The latest plan increased that estimate to around 280. Final tenant details and opening arrangements may still change.

Asian Food Hall Takes Centre Stage

Dining will form a major part of the TABISIA experience. The fourth-floor ASIYONG food hall plans to bring together 44 Asian dining outlets.

The airport says the food hall will feature cuisines from Japan and other Asian destinations served by Fukuoka flights. The concept aims to bring different food cultures together under one roof.

International travellers could find a convenient meal before departure or after arrival. Local visitors may also find another reason to visit the airport without taking a flight.

The airport has announced some incoming tenants, including businesses entering Japan for the first time. Travellers should check future announcements for individual menus, prices and opening hours.

Airport Hotel Adds 165 Rooms

TABISIA will also house the planned Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka Airport. Nishitetsu expects the property to open around summer 2027, with 165 rooms.

The hotel will occupy floors five to eleven. Plans place the reception and a public bath on the fifth floor, with guest rooms above.

Room options will include doubles, twins and triples. The mix could suit solo visitors, couples, families and business travellers seeking accommodation close to the terminal.

An airport-connected hotel could prove useful for early departures, late arrivals and short stays. Guests would also have shopping and dining facilities within the same complex.

Nishitetsu has described the hotel name as provisional. Travellers should check the operator’s announcements for confirmed room rates, reservations and opening details.

Connections to Fukuoka and Kyushu

TABISIA’s domestic terminal location will place it close to Fukuoka Airport’s existing subway connection. The train journey takes approximately five minutes to Hakata Station and ten minutes to Tenjin.

Those links could help visitors combine airport shopping with time in central Fukuoka. Hakata also provides onward rail connections for travellers exploring other parts of Kyushu.

International passengers can use the airport’s free shuttle between the international and domestic terminals. The journey currently takes approximately ten minutes, although waiting and walking require extra time.

The new complex will include a bus terminal and a boarding area for the inter-terminal shuttle. These facilities could help visitors connect flights, accommodation and ground transport more easily.

What Travellers Should Know

TABISIA remains under construction, and its summer 2027 opening date is a plan. Visitors should check for updates before arranging travel around the launch.

The airport intends its pre-security commercial areas to welcome people who are not flying. The project information has not announced a general admission fee for those shopping areas.

Flights, hotel stays, meals and purchases will require separate payment. Travellers should also confirm opening hours and transport arrangements closer to their visit.

Meanwhile, Fukuoka Airport continues to offer shops and restaurants in its existing terminals. Passengers should allow extra time and check notices if construction affects routes through the airport.

Tourism Opportunities for Fukuoka

TABISIA could encourage visitors to spend more time at Fukuoka Airport. Its Kyushu food and craft area may also give regional businesses another way to reach travellers.

The hotel, shops and transport facilities could support different journeys, from brief stopovers to longer regional holidays. However, the project’s impact on visitor spending and hotel demand will become clearer after opening.

For now, the development adds a new dimension to Fukuoka’s airport plans. Travellers can look forward to more places to eat, shop and stay near their flights.
