Jetstar Japan will add 224 domestic flights across seven existing routes during the 2026–27 winter season. The expansion increases options for holidaymakers, families and regional travellers between November 2026 and March 2027.
Tokyo Narita–Fukuoka receives the largest allocation, with 96 additional one-way services. Osaka Kansai–Okinawa Naha follows with 64 extra flights during February and March.
Announced on 23 October, the programme targets year-end holidays, New Year journeys and late-winter travel. Additional services will operate on selected dates rather than throughout the entire season.
Six routes connect with Tokyo Narita, while the seventh links Osaka Kansai with Okinawa Naha.
Fukuoka Leads the Capacity Increase
The Narita–Fukuoka expansion accounts for nearly 43% of the additional flights. Services include departures during November, followed by a larger programme in February and March 2027.
Two additional return services will operate on 22 and 23 November. Further flights will serve selected dates across the final two months of Japan’s winter timetable.
Fukuoka provides access to northern Kyushu and onward journeys across the island. Extra departures could therefore support city breaks, family visits and holidays combining several regional destinations.
The additional schedule includes daytime and evening options, giving passengers greater flexibility when arranging accommodation and onward transport.
However, the announcement provides flight totals rather than a forecast of additional visitors or tourism spending.
Okinawa Gains Flights From Tokyo and Osaka
Okinawa receives 92 additional flights across its connections with Narita and Kansai. Together, these services represent more than two-fifths of the expansion.
The Kansai–Naha route gains 64 one-way flights, equivalent to 32 return services. They will operate across 16 selected dates in February and another 16 in March.
These additions strengthen access from western Japan during the late-winter holiday period. Travellers gain further options for resort stays, coastal sightseeing and cultural visits.
Meanwhile, Narita–Naha receives 28 extra flights between November and January. The operating pattern includes late-November departures and services from 25 December through 4 January.
During that year-end period, the additional Narita departure is scheduled early enough to reach Okinawa before midday.
Passengers considering early departures should check airport transport carefully before confirming accommodation and transfer arrangements.
Osaka, Hokkaido and Regional Destinations Benefit
Jetstar Japan will add 14 flights between Narita and Kansai from 25 to 31 December. These represent an additional return service each day during the final week of the year.
The afternoon departures offer another option for journeys between Japan’s two major metropolitan regions. They may also suit travellers incorporating domestic flights into wider itineraries.
Narita–Sapporo New Chitose gains eight flights across selected November and December dates. The services provide additional access to Hokkaido for seasonal holidays and visits to Sapporo.
Matsuyama also receives eight flights, spread across four dates in November and December. These strengthen selected connections between the Tokyo region and Ehime Prefecture.
For visitors, Matsuyama offers access to established attractions including Dogo Onsen and Matsuyama Castle.
The remaining six flights serve Narita–Miyazaki on 25 December, 30 December and 1 January. These three return services target the year-end travel period.
Additional Capacity Supports Holiday Planning
The expansion reinforces existing routes rather than introducing new destinations. Its main benefit is greater departure choice during concentrated travel periods.
For families, an additional service may make travel easier around school holidays or work commitments. Leisure visitors may also find timings that better match hotel stays and regional transport.
For destination businesses, extra flights create opportunities to attract customers from major urban markets. Hotels, attractions and local transport operators could benefit when passengers convert additional capacity into completed journeys.
Nevertheless, actual outcomes depend on bookings, occupancy and visitor behaviour. More scheduled departures do not establish higher tourism revenue or guarantee cheaper tickets.
Travellers Should Compare Complete Journey Costs
Passengers should check individual operating dates before booking because many additions run only on specific days. Departure times can also vary by date.
Tokyo services in this programme use Narita Airport. Travellers should include airport access when comparing flight prices and total journey times.
Baggage, seat selection and other optional services may affect the final booking cost. Advertised starting fares should therefore be assessed alongside the services each passenger requires.
Separate flight, rail and bus reservations also require sufficient transfer time. A convenient arrival does not automatically provide a protected onward connection.
Japan’s winter aviation timetable runs until 27 March 2027. Across that period, Jetstar Japan’s targeted additions give travellers more choices for reaching major cities and regional holiday destinations.
