Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines are expanding their strategic partnership from 1 June 2026, opening more convenient travel options between the Philippines, Doha and major international markets. The agreement builds on the Manila–Doha codeshare cooperation launched in June 2025 and adds more than 40 destinations across both airlines’ networks.
Under the expanded arrangement, Philippine Airlines will place its PR code on Qatar Airways flights from Manila, Cebu, Clark and Davao to Doha. Travellers will also gain access to more than 20 major European cities through Hamad International Airport, including Paris, Rome and Frankfurt. In return, Qatar Airways will place its QR code on Philippine Airlines domestic flights, improving access to popular Philippine leisure destinations including Caticlan and Puerto Princesa.
The expansion strengthens Doha’s role as a connecting hub while improving access to island holidays, cultural trips, family travel and business journeys. It also gives tourism businesses in Qatar and the Philippines a broader platform to reach travellers planning multi-destination itineraries.
More Routes Through Doha and the Philippines
The partnership creates a more integrated network for passengers travelling between Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Philippine Airlines customers will be able to connect through Doha on Qatar Airways services, while Qatar Airways passengers arriving in Manila or Cebu can continue to domestic destinations operated by the Philippine flag carrier.
For the Philippines, the arrangement is especially relevant to destinations with strong leisure appeal. Caticlan is a gateway for Boracay, while Puerto Princesa provides access to Palawan’s tourism experiences. Easier domestic connections can support hotels, resorts, tour operators, restaurants and local transport providers serving travellers who want to extend an international trip beyond a major city.
The agreement also brings Cebu, Clark and Davao into a wider international travel framework. These gateways can help travellers build more flexible itineraries while reducing the need to organise separate bookings for different parts of a journey.
Loyalty Benefits Add Value for Frequent Travellers
The two airlines are also extending loyalty benefits. Qatar Airways Privilege Club and Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles members can now collect and spend their loyalty currencies across both networks.
Privilege Club members can use Avios across Philippine Airlines routes in Southeast Asia, Australasia, the United States and a wider range of Philippine cities. Mabuhay Miles members can collect and spend miles when travelling across Qatar Airways’ global network, including destinations in Africa and Europe.
For frequent travellers, the loyalty partnership adds practical value to the expanded codeshare. It supports repeat travel while giving passengers more reasons to combine the airlines when planning holidays, family visits and corporate journeys.
Tourism Businesses Gain Wider Market Access
The expanded codeshare creates opportunities for tourism and hospitality businesses in both countries. Philippine destinations can gain improved visibility among travellers arriving through Doha, while Qatar can benefit from stronger links with Southeast Asian markets.
Doha is more than a transfer point for passengers with time to extend their journeys. Visitors can consider stopovers that include museums, dining, shopping, cultural attractions and hospitality experiences. This can support hotels, restaurants, attractions and local transport providers across the city.
In the Philippines, easier access to domestic leisure destinations can encourage visitors to explore beyond Manila. Beach holidays, island stays and nature-focused itineraries can become more convenient when international and domestic travel options are combined through a codeshare arrangement.
Stronger Connections for Business and Family Travel
The partnership also supports travel beyond tourism. Improved connectivity can benefit professionals attending meetings, companies managing regional travel and families travelling between the Philippines, Qatar and other international markets.
The Manila–Doha route has an important role in linking communities as well as destinations. Philippine Airlines began daily nonstop services between Manila and Doha in June 2025, with Qatar Airways placing its code on the flights. The latest expansion broadens that cooperation and gives passengers additional ways to travel across the two networks.
Airline Partnerships Shape Global Travel
The Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines agreement reflects the growing importance of airline partnerships in international tourism. Travellers increasingly seek journeys that are easier to plan, offer more destination choices and connect major hubs with local leisure markets.
From 1 June 2026, the expanded codeshare will give passengers more options across the Philippines, Doha and Europe. For destinations and hospitality businesses, the development creates new opportunities to attract visitors, encourage longer stays and support tourism spending across multiple regions.
