Doha-based Qatar Airways has officially announced a massive winter schedule expansion, extending its global reach to more than 170 destinations across six continents. The strategic expansion introduces over 186 weekly frequencies across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, North America, and the Middle East, seamlessly routing international traffic through Hamad International Airport in Doha.
The expanded operational framework addresses surging international passenger demand by combining route resumptions, increased flight frequencies, and enhanced onboard digital services. Alongside network growth, the flag carrier is accelerating the fleet-wide integration of high-speed Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, operating up to 340 Starlink-enabled flights daily across more than 150 equipped widebody aircraft.
Asia Pacific and Oceania Lead International Route Capacity Growth
Asia Pacific serves as a primary engine for the carrier’s winter scaling. Resort destinations and key transit hubs across Asia will see significant frequency bumps starting October 25. Direct connections to Phuket, Thailand, and Malé in the Maldives will both expand from 14 to 21 weekly flights. Flight frequencies to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will grow to 18 weekly services, supplemented by partner carrier Malaysia Airlines’ 14 weekly frequencies to Doha.
Vietnam will benefit from expanded seat capacity as services to Ho Chi Minh City increase from seven to 11 weekly flights starting November 7. The enhanced schedule reintroduces four dedicated non-stop flights between Doha and Ho Chi Minh City while maintaining existing one-stop services via Phnom Penh.
In Australia, the airline is reinstating key capital links. Daily flights to Canberra will officially resume via Melbourne on December 9, bringing direct international access back to the Australian capital. Concurrently, Melbourne operations will double from seven to 14 weekly flights. Partner airlines will further amplify Australian connectivity. Strategic partner Virgin Australia is expanding services to Doha from Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth, boosting total combined group flights to 21 weekly for Sydney, 10 for Brisbane, and 11 for Perth.
African and European Gateways Receive Frequency Boosts
African travel hubs will experience enhanced leisure and commercial flight schedules. Daily non-stop services to Zanzibar, Tanzania, will resume on October 25, catering to strong winter holiday demand. In South Africa, services to Johannesburg will rise from 14 to 18 weekly flights beginning December 2, while connections to the Seychelles will scale from four to seven weekly flights starting March 1.
North American connections also receive extra capacity, headlined by a 40 percent boost in seat capacity to Montréal, Canada, as weekly flights increase from five to seven starting October 25.
Major European gateways will absorb substantial capacity additions:
London Heathrow: Frequencies increase from 49 to 56 weekly flights starting October 25, representing an 11 percent capacity gain. This service is complemented by codeshare partner British Airways’ daily flights between London and Doha.
Frankfurt: German frequency grows from 18 to 21 weekly flights beginning December 7, adding seven percent total seat capacity.
These expanded European gateways provide reliable transit windows for long-haul passengers connecting to regional networks across the Middle East and Asia.
Middle Eastern Network Expands Across Saudi Arabian Cities
Middle Eastern flight operations will grow by 10 percent overall during the winter schedule, driven by key regional resumptions. Saudi Arabia represents a major focal point, with services restoring to four commercial regional centers:
Qassim: Direct bi-weekly flights restart October 25.
Taif: Twice-weekly services resume October 31.
Yanbu: Direct flights re-establish January 2 with two weekly frequencies.
Tabuk: Services resume January 3 with two weekly flights.
These regional additions expand the carrier’s Saudi footprint to 12 total destinations and elevate total Kingdom flight operations to more than 155 weekly departures.

With total operations scaling to nearly 1,800 weekly flights by December, Qatar Airways is positioning its network to capture expanding international passenger traffic.
