Four Seasons Mauritius General Manager begins new chapter

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita has appointed Gregory Viaud as General Manager, placing an experienced international hotelier at the helm following the property’s extensive transformation.

Viaud brings more than two decades of experience with Four Seasons to the Indian Ocean resort. He arrives from Four Seasons Hotel Rabat Kasr Al Bahr, where he served as opening General Manager and led the hotel’s launch in Morocco’s capital.

His appointment comes after the Mauritius resort completed a seven-month transformation. The programme reimagined its all-pool villas and residence rentals, introduced new dining concepts and further enhanced OSEYAN Spa.

The leadership change connects the resort’s physical renewal with a wider focus on Mauritian culture, community relationships and destination-led experiences. It also strengthens the property’s position within the island’s competitive luxury hospitality market.

Island experience shapes Viaud’s appointment

Viaud has spent eight years working at Four Seasons island resorts in Bora Bora, Bali and Maui. These assignments gave him extensive experience in destinations where hospitality depends closely on local culture, community involvement and the natural environment.

That background will be especially relevant in Mauritius, where beaches, lagoons, marine life and multicultural traditions remain central to the visitor experience.

Viaud said he was inspired by the opportunity to work with the resort team while creating meaningful experiences that reflect the warmth, culture and natural beauty of Mauritius.

His approach places the destination within the resort experience rather than treating the property as an isolated luxury enclave. Guests may therefore encounter stronger connections with local cuisine, traditions, landscapes and community stories.

For Mauritius tourism, this direction supports demand for travel experiences that combine premium facilities with a genuine sense of place.

Career spans global hotels and resorts

A graduate of Vatel Nîmes Hotel and Tourism Business School in southern France, Viaud began his Four Seasons career at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane in 2004.

His international journey later took him to Bora Bora, Bali and Maui. He also worked at Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.

Leadership roles followed at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center and Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort. He then moved to Morocco to open Four Seasons Hotel Rabat Kasr Al Bahr.

This career has included urban hotels, destination resorts and major opening projects. It gives Viaud experience across different guest markets, operating environments and hospitality cultures.

His return to an island destination also reflects a personal connection with marine environments. Outside work, he enjoys exploring the ocean with his wife and two children, alongside running, football and tennis.

Transformed villas strengthen luxury accommodation

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita offers 136 villas and residence rentals. Every villa includes a private plunge pool, garden and outdoor shower.

The recent redesign draws on the island’s natural colours, textures and open-air character. Its approach aims to create stronger visual harmony between indoor accommodation and the surrounding tropical landscape.

Residence rentals also serve families and groups seeking greater space, privacy and flexibility. This accommodation segment has become increasingly important within luxury leisure travel, particularly for longer stays and multigenerational holidays.

Viaud will oversee the resort as these renewed facilities enter their next operational phase. Maintaining service consistency across private villas, residences, restaurants and recreational experiences will form an important part of his role.

Dining celebrates Mauritius and global flavours

The transformation introduced a varied culinary collection reflecting Mauritius’ multicultural character alongside international influences.

Angara focuses on Indian tandoor cuisine, while Awase presents Japanese and pan-Asian flavours. Radici offers contemporary Italian dishes, and Chaloupe combines Mediterranean influences with Mauritian specialities.

Ti Pwason showcases freshly caught local seafood, while La Plaz Beach Grill serves guests on Île aux Cerfs. Blu’Zil and the Rum Library provide further settings for evening drinks and social experiences.

These outlets can connect visitors with local produce, island flavours and Mauritius’ diverse culinary heritage. They may also increase guest spending within the resort while giving travellers more reasons to extend their stay.

OSEYAN Spa expands wellness appeal

OSEYAN Spa, described by Four Seasons as Mauritius’ only overwater spa, has emerged as a major part of the renewed resort.

Positioned above the lagoon, the spa contains 12 treatment rooms, a salon, manicure and pedicure facilities, and a thermal suite. Its design uses light, natural textures and surrounding water views to create a strong connection with the landscape.

Treatments combine global therapies with local traditions. The Royal Spa Suite includes a handcrafted stone bath and panoramic lagoon views, while the fitness centre offers Pilates and TRX facilities.

Wellness experiences strengthen Mauritius’ appeal beyond conventional beach holidays. They can attract travellers seeking restorative stays, active breaks and longer luxury escapes.

People-first leadership guides future growth

Viaud’s leadership philosophy centres on empowered teams, genuine relationships and shared purpose. This approach can support staff development while protecting the service standards expected from an international luxury resort.

He will also guide the property’s connection with local conservation and community initiatives. Current environmental programmes include seagrass restoration, seahorse protection and mangrove honey production.

Such experiences allow guests to understand the ecosystems supporting Mauritius’ tourism economy while contributing to destination awareness.

Following its transformation, Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita now combines renewed accommodation, expanded dining and overwater wellness with experienced leadership.

Viaud’s appointment signals a new phase focused on people, culture and place. For Mauritius, it reinforces the island’s position as a luxury destination where premium hospitality can remain closely connected to community and nature.
