Amsterdam Schiphol Opens First Continental Europe Centurion Lounge for Premium Travellers

American Express opened a Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol on 17 September 2026, adding a premium space for eligible card members travelling through the Dutch aviation hub. The lounge sits between Concourses E and F and offers seating, work areas, dining and drinks before departure.

The opening gives Schiphol passengers another option for spending time at the airport. Business travellers can work between appointments, while frequent flyers can use the space to eat or rest before an international flight.

It is the first lounge in continental Europe to carry the Centurion Lounge name and the 33rd location in the network. For American Express, Schiphol extends its premium airport hospitality offering at a major European gateway.

Dutch Design Shapes the New Space

The lounge draws on Dutch art, landscapes and design to give travellers a sense of place before they leave Amsterdam. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light into the interior, while locally inspired details distinguish it from a standard terminal waiting area.

Food and drink form a central part of the experience. Guests can visit the Blue Roast Coffee Bar, use the full bar or choose from a buffet featuring seasonal dishes. These facilities allow passengers to settle in for a meal or make a shorter stop before boarding.

Comfortable seating, charging points and Wi-Fi support travellers who need to work. The mix of spaces also gives passengers room to relax or prepare for the next stage of a journey without leaving the airport.

The lounge operates daily from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Travellers should allow enough time to reach their departure gate, particularly when a connection involves additional airport formalities.

Access Depends on Card Eligibility

The Centurion Lounge is available to eligible American Express card members under the terms of their cards. Access is not included with every American Express product, and guest rules can vary by card and market.

Passengers should check their specific lounge benefit and entry conditions before travelling. This matters most for families, colleagues and other groups who plan to enter together, since one traveller’s eligibility does not automatically cover everyone in the party.

The facility serves card members flying through Schiphol rather than passengers based on airline or cabin alone. That gives qualifying travellers a lounge option across eligible journeys, regardless of which carrier they choose.

For frequent international flyers, a reliable place to work or rest can be particularly useful during a busy itinerary. A lounge visit may also make a longer wait more comfortable, although access remains subject to the applicable rules.

Business Travellers Gain a Place to Work

Schiphol’s position in international aviation makes the new space relevant to passengers moving between European cities and longer-distance destinations. A traveller with time before departure can answer messages, charge devices or prepare for a meeting in a dedicated setting.

The benefit extends beyond business travel. Holidaymakers eligible for entry can have a meal before boarding, while frequent flyers may value a familiar service when passing through an airport they use regularly.

The lounge’s location between Concourses E and F places it within Schiphol’s departure environment. Still, travellers should check their gate and available time before entering, especially when their flight departs from another part of the airport.

Airport comfort increasingly influences how passengers experience a journey from start to finish. Seating, food, connectivity and clear access arrangements can make time on the ground feel more useful and less tiring.

Premium Hospitality Expands at Schiphol

The opening adds to the range of passenger services at Amsterdam Schiphol. It also gives eligible card members a facility with a distinct Dutch character, bringing local design and hospitality into an international airport setting.

For the airport, such spaces broaden the choices available to travellers with different needs. Some passengers want a place to finish work; others value a meal or a quieter interval before a long flight.

The Centurion Lounge brings those uses together in one location. Its coffee service, seasonal buffet and work facilities provide practical reasons to visit, while the interior connects the experience to Amsterdam.

As more travellers assess the full journey alongside the flight itself, premium ground services remain part of the appeal of major aviation hubs. Schiphol’s new lounge gives eligible American Express members another way to use their time before departure.
