Riyadh Air Launches Manchester Flights in Major Saudi Arabia–UK Travel Expansion

Riyadh Air has launched nonstop flights between Riyadh and Manchester, giving Northern England a new direct connection with Saudi Arabia.

The three-times-weekly service expands the Saudi carrier’s UK network beyond London. It also creates new travel opportunities for leisure visitors, business passengers and customers connecting through Riyadh.

Flights operate every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The schedule provides direct access to the Saudi capital while supporting onward journeys to Jeddah and important Asian markets.

The service advances Saudi Arabia’s wider aviation and tourism ambitions under Vision 2030. Greater international connectivity remains essential for attracting visitors, supporting trade and strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global travel hub.

Riyadh Air developed the route in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Air Connectivity Program. The programme supports new international services aligned with the country’s National Tourism and Aviation Strategies.

First Flight Connects Riyadh and Manchester

The first outbound service, RX0417, departed King Khalid International Airport at 1:30 a.m. local time. It arrived at Manchester Airport at 6:40 a.m.

Return flight RX0418 left Manchester at 8:40 a.m. and reached Riyadh at 5:20 p.m. on the same day.

The schedule gives passengers from Northern England direct access to Riyadh without transferring through another UK or European airport.

However, travellers should verify flight times before departure because schedules can change for operational reasons. Connection times and onward destinations may also vary by travel date.

The Manchester service complements Riyadh Air’s London operation, giving UK passengers greater flexibility when planning trips to Saudi Arabia.

Manchester Opens Wider Northern Market

Manchester represents an important destination for business, higher education, culture and international sport.

Its airport serves travellers across Northern England, including communities around Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield. The route therefore reaches a broader market than Manchester alone.

International visitors can also use the city as a starting point for trips across northern Britain. Accessible destinations include the Peak District, Lake District and Yorkshire Moors.

Manchester can further support journeys towards North Wales and Scotland. This geographic reach strengthens the route’s potential among inbound leisure travellers from Saudi Arabia.

For UK passengers, the direct service improves access to Riyadh’s expanding tourism, entertainment and business sectors. It can also support travel to other destinations through the Saudi capital.

Improved connectivity may benefit hotels, tour operators, restaurants and visitor attractions in both markets. It could also encourage corporate travel, educational exchanges and investment activity.

Riyadh Hub Supports Asian Connections

Riyadh Air plans to use its home hub to connect passengers with a growing international network.

Travellers using the Manchester route can continue towards Jeddah and selected Asian destinations. These include Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.

Such connections could appeal to passengers across Northern England who currently travel through competing European or Middle Eastern hubs.

The route’s long-term performance will depend partly on competitive fares, convenient transfer times and dependable schedules. Efficient baggage transfers and simple airport navigation will also shape passenger confidence.

For Saudi Arabia, the service creates another channel for bringing visitors directly into the capital. It may support multi-city itineraries combining Riyadh with Jeddah and other Saudi destinations.

Dreamliner Brings Four Cabin Choices

Riyadh Air is operating the Manchester route with its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The aircraft offers Business Elite, Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. This range allows the airline to serve luxury travellers, corporate passengers and value-focused leisure customers.

Cabin features include ergonomic seating, improved storage and digital entertainment powered by Panasonic Avionics’ Astrova platform.

Passengers can also access mobile-first connectivity and wireless audio capabilities. The airline has developed enhanced dining for the long-haul journey.

Saudi-inspired services include Kayanee wellness amenities and children’s entertainment kits created through a Disney partnership.

A five-sense wellness programme is intended to support comfort during longer flights. These elements form part of Riyadh Air’s attempt to position itself within the competitive premium aviation market.

Sfeer Adds Loyalty Benefits

The airline is supporting its network expansion through Sfeer, its loyalty programme for international travellers.

The name combines the Arabic association with an ambassador and the English concept of a sphere. It represents the airline’s aim to connect Saudi hospitality with a global passenger community.

Sfeer benefits include a Best Offer Guarantee, points that do not expire and complimentary onboard Wi-Fi. Additional advantages will help the airline encourage repeat travel across its network.

A strong loyalty programme could prove important as Riyadh Air competes for passengers travelling between Britain, Saudi Arabia and Asia.

Route Supports Saudi Tourism Growth

The Manchester launch marks another step in Saudi Arabia’s effort to expand international visitor access and diversify its economy.

Direct flights can reduce friction for travellers considering a destination for the first time. They also support tour packaging, business events and combined leisure itineraries.

For Northern England, the route creates a new long-haul option and stronger access to Saudi Arabia. For Riyadh, it expands the city’s role as both a destination and connecting hub.

With Manchester joining London, Riyadh Air now has a broader platform in the UK. The airline’s next challenge will be turning new capacity into sustained demand across tourism, business and connecting markets.
