Atmosphere Core has signed ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru, a new 118-villa private-island resort scheduled to open in the Maldives in March 2027.
The property will become Atmosphere Core’s 10th resort in the country and the first development within its new ONE BANYAN series. It will operate under the An Atmosphere Hotel sub-brand of Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts.
Located in Kaafu Atoll, the resort will be approximately 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. That accessibility could prove attractive to international visitors seeking to reach their island accommodation without requiring a seaplane connection.
Every beach and overwater villa will include a private pool. Dining, wellness, family recreation, diving and water sports will form the wider experience, positioning the property for couples, families and experience-focused luxury travelers.
The signing strengthens Atmosphere Core’s presence in the Maldives while introducing a concept designed to give participating resorts individual identities instead of applying a uniform brand formula.
New Concept Emphasizes Island Identity
ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru is being developed around the surrounding lagoon, reef and Maldivian environment.
Its name supports that connection. Amaraa draws inspiration from a Sanskrit term associated with eternity or immortality, while “faru” means reef in Dhivehi.
The resort’s design will reinterpret traditional palm-leaf craftsmanship through a contemporary approach. Coconut and palm fibres will influence textures and details across the property.
Natural materials will appear alongside understated Art Deco elements and eco-conscious finishes. Crème and soft green tones will reflect the tropical landscape while giving the resort a distinctive visual identity.
This approach responds to changing luxury demand. Travelers increasingly want resorts that reflect their location rather than properties that appear interchangeable across destinations.
The ONE BANYAN series will allow Atmosphere Core to connect each resort with its wider hospitality portfolio while preserving an individual story, design and guest atmosphere.
Private-Pool Villas Target Multiple Markets
The resort’s 118 villas will include beach and overwater categories designed for different travel groups.
Standard beach villas will cover approximately 100 square metres. Family beach villas will extend to about 164 square metres, providing additional space for parents, children and multigenerational groups.
Overwater villas will measure roughly 117 square metres. Their position above the lagoon will appeal to visitors seeking one of the Maldives’ most recognizable accommodation experiences.
Private pools across every villa category will bring greater consistency to the resort’s luxury positioning. Indoor and outdoor areas will also create a close visual relationship with the surrounding water and tropical environment.
Larger family accommodation could help the property compete for a growing segment of Maldives tourism. Families increasingly seek island resorts combining premium privacy with supervised activities and flexible dining.
Meanwhile, couples can select beach or overwater accommodation depending on whether they prioritize direct sand access or lagoon views.
Dining Adds Variety to Island Stays
Food and beverage experiences will form an important part of the resort’s attraction.
An all-day restaurant will serve as the main dining hub, supported by a central pool bar and three speciality restaurants. Planned culinary concepts include Argentinian cuisine and an overwater Japanese restaurant.
This range gives guests more options during longer stays, when dining variety becomes an important part of the overall holiday experience.
The wider guest offering will follow Atmosphere Core’s Holiday Plan approach. It is expected to combine dining with selected wellness services, snorkeling and other tropical activities.
A more inclusive plan can make island holidays easier to budget because visitors understand more of the experience before arrival. However, final inclusions and booking conditions will depend on the packages available when reservations open.
ELE|NA Ayur Leads Wellness Offering
The resort’s spa will operate under Atmosphere Core’s ELE|NA Ayur wellness brand.
Planned facilities include overwater treatment rooms, a 40-square-metre saltwater pool, sauna and steam areas. These features will allow guests to combine conventional spa treatments with a broader wellbeing journey.
An ocean-view gym and fitness centre will support active stays. Guests will also have access to a dive and water sports centre, bringing the lagoon and surrounding marine environment into the holiday programme.
Families will benefit from a dedicated kids’ club, while a promenade-style retail area will add shopping and social spaces.
Technology will be integrated throughout the guest journey. The company aims to use digital systems to make service more intuitive without allowing technology to dominate the island experience.
Sustainability Shapes Resort Development
ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru plans to incorporate solar energy solutions, water-conservation systems and measures intended to reduce plastic use.
In-house glass water bottling will help limit reliance on single-use plastic bottles. Such systems have become increasingly important across the Maldives, where island resorts must manage resources and waste within environmentally sensitive surroundings.
The effectiveness of the resort’s sustainability programme will depend on implementation, monitoring and transparent long-term targets. Nevertheless, integrating these measures during development can produce stronger results than adding them after opening.
Founded in 2013, Atmosphere Core currently operates nine Maldives resorts across three brands. It is also expanding through hotels in India and Italy, with additional properties planned across Europe and South Asia.
The March 2027 opening will therefore represent both portfolio growth and a strategic brand launch. With private-pool villas, varied dining, family facilities and lagoon-focused wellness, ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru could bring a fresh experience-led choice to the competitive Maldives resort market.
