Passengers travelling between Hyderabad and Mangaluru will gain an additional overnight rail option this June as a special express service operates four round trips on selected Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The temporary service has been introduced to accommodate increased passenger demand and provide more booking options on a long-distance route connecting Telangana with Karnataka’s coastal region. The train will also serve important stations across multiple states, making it useful for leisure travellers, business passengers, students and families planning journeys during the busy travel period.
Train No. 07097 will depart Hyderabad Deccan at 4.20 a.m. on Wednesdays and arrive at Mangaluru Central at 9.30 a.m. the following day. The service will operate on 3, 10, 17 and 24 June 2026.
In the return direction, Train No. 07098 will leave Mangaluru Central at 8 p.m. on Thursdays and arrive in Hyderabad at 4 a.m. on Saturdays. The return journeys will operate on 4, 11, 18 and 25 June.
The additional departures provide travellers with a practical alternative when regular trains are heavily booked. Passengers should confirm the latest timetable and ticket availability through official railway booking channels before planning their journey.
Overnight Schedule Supports More Efficient Journeys
The special train has been designed around an overnight travel pattern, allowing passengers to spend a significant part of the journey resting rather than using daytime hours for long-distance transport.
This can be especially useful for travellers heading to Mangaluru for holidays, family visits or work commitments. Arriving in the morning creates an opportunity to begin planned activities on the same day, whether that involves checking into a hotel, continuing towards a coastal destination or attending a business meeting.
For passengers travelling in the opposite direction, the evening departure from Mangaluru allows greater flexibility after a day in the city or surrounding region.
Rail travel can also appeal to passengers seeking an alternative to road journeys. The ability to choose from different classes makes the service accessible across a range of budgets.
Multiple Travel Classes Cater to Different Budgets
The train will include three AC two-tier coaches, five AC three-tier coaches, 10 sleeper-class coaches and four general second-class coaches. Two luggage-cum-brake vans will complete the formation.
This mix provides options for passengers seeking greater comfort as well as travellers prioritising affordability. Air-conditioned coaches can appeal to families and long-distance passengers, while sleeper and general compartments remain important for budget-conscious travellers.
Given the limited number of round trips, advance booking will be important. Demand may be particularly strong around weekends and for journeys connected with holidays, education and family travel.
Key Stops Improve Regional Connectivity
The Hyderabad–Mangaluru special train will stop at several major stations along the route, improving accessibility for travellers beyond the two terminal cities.
Important halts include Begumpet, Lingampalli, Vikarabad, Raichur, Guntakal, Yelahanka, Bangarapet, Salem Junction, Erode Junction, Palakkad Junction, Shoranur Junction, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod.
These stops strengthen connections across Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The route also creates additional travel options for passengers heading towards northern Kerala and the Karnataka coast.
For tourism, the service can support regional journeys that combine city visits with coastal holidays. Mangaluru is an important gateway to Karnataka’s shoreline and offers access to beaches, temples, local cuisine and surrounding destinations. Nearby rail stops such as Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod also make the train useful for travellers exploring the Malabar coast.
Coastal Tourism and Local Businesses Could Benefit
Additional railway capacity can have a wider impact on the visitor economy.
More passengers arriving in Mangaluru may generate demand for hotels, restaurants, taxis, local transport providers and attractions. The service can also benefit travellers continuing to nearby coastal towns or using Mangaluru as a base for regional exploration.
Hyderabad also gains stronger temporary connectivity with southern destinations. As a major business and technology centre, the city generates substantial demand for long-distance travel linked with work, education, family visits and leisure.
The special train reflects the importance of seasonal rail services in managing passenger demand. By adding capacity on selected dates, railway authorities can reduce pressure on regular services while giving travellers more flexibility.
Passengers Should Book Early and Check Updates
Travellers planning to use the Hyderabad–Mangaluru special train should reserve tickets early due to the limited operating period.
Passengers should also check official railway updates before departure, as schedules and platform details may be subject to operational changes.
With four round trips, overnight timings and stops across several regional hubs, the service adds a useful June travel option for passengers seeking a smoother journey between Hyderabad and Mangaluru.
