Club Med Bintan Unveils Major Family Resort Transformation Through 2027

Club Med Bintan is undergoing a major transformation that will introduce redesigned rooms, expanded family facilities, new sports and refreshed dining through 2026 and 2027.

The redevelopment aims to strengthen the Indonesian island resort’s appeal among families seeking convenient, experience-rich holidays. Club Med is combining shared activities with dedicated spaces for children and adults within its premium all-inclusive model.

A 300-square-metre Amazing Family! Hub will become one of the flagship additions. It will be Club Med’s first facility of this type in Asia, creating a central environment where parents and children can play, explore and relax together.

The wider programme includes a Splash Pad, Padel and Pickleball courts, upgraded restaurants and redesigned accommodation. A refreshed Kids Club and another gourmet dining venue are expected to follow by 2027.

Together, the improvements position Club Med Bintan for multigenerational groups that want recreation, accommodation, meals and children’s programming within one destination.

Redesigned Rooms Reflect Island Character

The resort is redesigning its Superior, Deluxe and Suite accommodation categories in phases.

New Deluxe Themed Rooms will introduce another choice for families. Their interiors draw inspiration from Bintan’s tropical setting through natural materials, Indonesian textures and colors connected with the surrounding island environment.

The design seeks to combine contemporary comfort with a clear sense of place. This approach can help the property distinguish itself within Southeast Asia’s competitive family-resort market.

Accommodation plays an important role in multigenerational travel because different groups need privacy, practical layouts and comfortable shared areas. Updating several room categories gives travelers greater flexibility when matching accommodation with their family size and holiday style.

Amazing Family! Hub Encourages Shared Play

The new Amazing Family! Hub reflects changing expectations surrounding children’s programming.

Traditional family resorts often separate young guests from their parents for much of the day. Club Med’s concept creates activities that different generations can experience together.

The 300-square-metre hub will contain an indoor playground, interactive games, activity zones and lounge spaces. Its flexible design will serve different age groups while giving families a recognizable meeting point inside the resort.

An Epic Explorer Trail will extend the experience across the property. Participating families receive an Explorer’s Passport before following clues, finding hidden sculptures and completing challenges.

After finishing the trail, they can collect stamps and receive a daily surprise. The format turns the resort grounds into an interactive discovery environment rather than limiting entertainment to a conventional playroom.

Families can also create travel journals through activities at the Amazing Family! corner. These elements provide children with physical reminders of the holiday while encouraging parents to participate.

Splash Pad Adds Water-Based Recreation

A new Splash Pad in the resort’s main center will give younger visitors another dedicated recreation area.

Water-play facilities can be particularly valuable for families with children who may not yet feel confident in larger swimming pools. They also provide an alternative to organized clubs and structured sports.

The central location places the facility near other resort services, making it easier for parents to incorporate water play into the daily holiday routine.

A refreshed Kids Club is planned by 2027. Its immersive environments will focus on curiosity, discovery and creativity, expanding age-appropriate activities as the transformation progresses.

New Sports Broaden Active Travel Appeal

Club Med Bintan already offers more than 20 sports and activities, including its established Flying Trapeze and archery experiences.

New Padel and Pickleball courts will respond to rapidly growing interest in both racquet sports. Their accessible formats may encourage beginners and families to participate together.

Water sports and fitness activities further support active stays. Guests can try unfamiliar pursuits, build skills or divide their day between organized recreation and relaxation.

This variety is central to the all-inclusive proposition. Travelers can experience several activities without repeatedly arranging transport or researching independent providers across the island.

Dining Transformation Continues Into 2027

Club Med is also refreshing its food and beverage facilities.

The revitalized Panorama Barista Bar offers views toward the South China Sea, creating a social space for drinks and relaxation. Meanwhile, the beachfront Terrace Gourmet Club combines local flavors with French-inspired cuisine.

The Grill Gourmet Club is expected to arrive by 2027. The planned venue will add a more sophisticated communal dining environment and expand the resort’s premium culinary offering.

Dining variety matters during longer resort stays, particularly for families whose members have different preferences and schedules. Multiple venues can also encourage guests to remain on the property rather than treating meals as a reason to leave.

A collaboration with French designer Mathilde Cabanas introduces limited-edition resort clothing and collectibles at Bintan, Club Med Kani and Club Med Phuket. This lifestyle element extends the holiday experience into resort retail.

Sustainability Remains Part of Redevelopment

Club Med Bintan holds Green Globe certification and continues environmental initiatives covering single-use plastics, turtle conservation and food-waste reduction.

The renovation’s use of natural materials and island-inspired design also supports the property’s intended connection with Bintan’s environment.

However, the resort’s strongest tourism impact may come from how it combines these different elements. Families increasingly prioritize simplicity, variety and opportunities to spend meaningful time together.

By adding shared family spaces, modern rooms, expanded sports and upgraded dining, Club Med Bintan is moving beyond a conventional refurbishment. Its transformation is creating a more complete island experience designed around active, connected and convenient multigenerational holidays.
