Air Canada’s Aeroplan and World of Hyatt have launched a major loyalty partnership that connects airline rewards, hotel stays, elite benefits and selected credit-card advantages across a combined global network of more than 1,300 destinations and 1,500 hotels.
Announced on July 15, 2026, the collaboration gives linked members new ways to earn, transfer and redeem points throughout a complete journey. Travellers can now use selected Aeroplan rewards for Hyatt stays, convert World of Hyatt points into an Aeroplan flight reward certificate and earn Aeroplan points during eligible hotel visits.
The agreement strengthens Canada’s travel loyalty market by bringing aviation and hospitality benefits into a more connected system. It could encourage frequent travellers to consolidate flight bookings, hotel stays and card spending with Air Canada and Hyatt.
Flight and Hotel Rewards Become More Flexible
Aeroplan members can redeem points for selected World of Hyatt Free Night Awards, including Category 1–4 and Category 1–7 certificates, with redemptions beginning at 25,000 Aeroplan points.
These awards can cover the room rate on a new eligible reservation at participating properties. However, travellers may still need to pay resort fees, taxes and other charges depending on the hotel and booking conditions.
Meanwhile, World of Hyatt members can exchange up to 50,000 Hyatt points for a flight reward certificate worth 30,000 Aeroplan points. The certificate can reduce the base fare in points for one passenger on a new reward booking with Air Canada or an eligible airline partner.
Certificates may take up to 14 days to reach an Aeroplan account and expire 365 days after being deposited. Taxes, partner booking charges and other third-party fees remain payable.
Members Can Earn Across Their Journey
Linked travellers can choose to receive 500 Aeroplan points on an eligible Hyatt stay instead of earning the World of Hyatt points normally available for that visit.
This option may appeal to passengers who are close to securing a flight reward or want to build their Aeroplan balance more quickly. However, members must make the selection by checkout and provide their Aeroplan membership number.
World of Hyatt members can also transfer points into Aeroplan at a 2:1 ratio, beginning with 5,000 Hyatt points. Eligible Aeroplan Elite Status members can transfer Aeroplan points to World of Hyatt at the same ratio, starting with 500 points.
Aeroplan-to-Hyatt conversions are limited to 100,000 Aeroplan points daily and 250,000 weekly. Since two points become one after conversion, travellers should calculate the potential value before moving a large balance.
Canadian Cardholders Receive Added Benefits
Eligible Canadian Aeroplan credit-card holders can earn both Aeroplan points and World of Hyatt Bonus Points on qualifying direct spending at participating Hyatt properties after linking their loyalty accounts.
Premium personal cards can earn two Aeroplan points and two Hyatt Bonus Points for every eligible Canadian dollar spent. Premium business cards can receive 2.5 Aeroplan points and two Hyatt Bonus Points.
Core personal cards can earn 1.5 Aeroplan points and one Hyatt Bonus Point, while core business cards can receive two Aeroplan points and one Hyatt Bonus Point. Actual earning rates, spending limits and exclusions depend on the card issuer and product.
The combined earning opportunity may increase Hyatt’s appeal among Canadian travellers while giving Air Canada cardholders another reason to book participating hotels directly.
Elite Status Challenges Target Frequent Travellers
Aeroplan Elite Status members and eligible premium cardholders can register for an annual 90-day World of Hyatt status challenge.
Participants can achieve Discoverist status after four qualifying nights, Explorist after ten nights and Globalist after twenty nights within the challenge period.
Eligible premium cardholders may also receive complimentary Discoverist status, five Tier-Qualifying Night credits each calendar year and two annual opportunities to complete the challenge.
These accelerated pathways could influence hotel demand from business travellers and frequent flyers who can concentrate several Hyatt stays into a three-month period.
World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members also receive an annual Air Canada flight credit while their accounts remain linked. The benefit is valued at C$20 for a return booking or C$10 for a one-way journey per passenger.
Further reciprocal opportunities are expected later in 2026, when eligible Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members are due to gain access to challenges that can accelerate Aeroplan Elite Status.
Partnership Could Strengthen Travel Demand
The Aeroplan and World of Hyatt partnership reflects growing demand for loyalty programmes that connect flights, hotels, payment cards and complete itineraries rather than operating as separate reward systems.
For Air Canada, the agreement expands Aeroplan’s hospitality offering and creates stronger incentives for cardholders. For Hyatt, it opens access to a major Canadian airline loyalty audience while giving hotel elites an additional aviation benefit.
Travellers will still need to consider award availability, transfer ratios, taxes, expiry dates and booking restrictions. Nevertheless, the partnership gives frequent Air Canada and Hyatt customers greater flexibility from flight planning to hotel checkout and may support increased airline bookings, direct hotel demand and loyalty-driven travel spending.
